WASHBURN – Micah Laplante scored 8:27 into the second half to lift the Van Buren Crusaders to a 1-0 schoolgirl soccer win over the Washburn Beavers Tuesday.
Laplante ran onto a bouncing ball in the penalty area and directed it into the net with her body, to give Van Buren its fifth win against a loss and a tie.
Erin Parent picked up an assist on the goal and Danielle Gagnon made it stand up with five saves on seven shots.
Jamie Abar made 16 saves on 20 shots for Washburn.
Wisdom 2, Madawaska 1
At Madawaska, Christa Lizotte scored unassisted for the Pioneers with 20 minutes remaining to lead them by the Owls.
Cindy Chamberland scored unassisted for the 7-0 Pioneers while Shannon Berube made 15 saves on 23 shots.
Kelly Chasse scored with an assist from Beth Gerard while Michelle Lavertu stopped five of eight shots for 2-4 Madawaska.
Fort Kent 1, Presque Isle 0
At Fort Kent, Meaghan Minzy scored the only goal unassisted for the 3-1 Warriors about a minute and a half into the game.
Mindy Morneault stopped 11 of 12 shots for the winners.
Melissa DeMerchant made six saves on 11 shots for 1-2 Presque Isle.
Boys soccer
Van Buren 6, Washburn 0
At Washburn, Tyler Lapierre scored three second-half goals to help the Crusaders blank the Beavers.
Andrew Martin posted a goal and an assist for 5-2 Van Buren, while Luiz Sodre and Tyler Hews scored a goal each. Jeremy Chasse notched two assists and Mike Corbin had one.
Sean Violette registered the shutout with five saves on eight shots.
Jason Thompson and Taylor Bagley combined to make three saves on nine shots for 4-2-2 Washburn.
Southern Aroostook 3, Lee 1
At Lee, Corey Edkins scored two goals and added an assist to help lead 5-0 Southern Aroostook past Lee Academy.
Zack Austin scored a goal for the Warriors while Jarred Grant tallied two assists and Jeff Boutiliermade eight saves on 13 shots.
B.J. Crocker scored an unassisted goal for the 0-2 Pandas. Kris King made a save in net and was replaced by Charlie Boulrisse, who stopped 11 shots.
