WASHINGTON – The Washington Capitals re-signed twin brothers and former University of Maine hockey stars Chris and Peter Ferraro to one-year contracts Friday.

Chris Ferraro, 29, an unrestricted free agent, appeared in one game with the Capitals last season. He also played two games with the Portland Pirates, the Capitals’ AHL affiliate.

Peter Ferraro, a restricted free agent, led Portland in goals (21) and points (58) and tied for the team lead in assists (37) while playing in 67 games last season.

The Ferraro brothers played for the Black Bears during the 1992-93 and 1993-94 seasons and were integral parts of the 1992-93 national championship team. Peter Ferraro played on the 1994 U.S. Olympic team.
