Schenck edges Penquis Day’s OT goal provides margin

EAST MILLINOCKET – Jessica Day scored two goals, including the winning goal one minute into overtime, to give Schenck a 3-2 schoolgirl soccer win over Penquis on Tuesday.

Laura Davis scored the other goal on an assist from Jodi King. Megan Carey saved 11 or 19 shots for 1-1 Schenck.

Kate Hamlin scored one goal and assisted on the other for 0-1 Penquis of Milo. Erica Morrow scored the other goal and Ashley Pelletier stopped 12 of 15 shots.

Dexter 2, Foxcroft Academy 0

At Dexter, Ashley Foster and Sarah Turner tallied unassisted goals as the Tigers prevailed.

Daphne Robichaud made seven saves on nine shots for 2-0 Dexter.

Katie Walsh made 10 saves on 18 shots for the 0-2 Ponies.

Bangor 0, Nokomis 0

At Newport, Bangor and Nokomis went to double overtime but still could not come up with a winner.

Ilyse Angst saved six of 15 shots for 1-0-1 Bangor.

Tia Beauregard stopped 12 of 14 shots for 1-0-1 Nokomis.

Bangor Chr. 5, DI-Stonington 2

At Deer Isle, Monique Veilleux had two goals and an assist to lead the Bangor Christian Patriots past Deer Isle-Stonington.

Emily Jenkins, Amber Leathers and Kellie Wiswell each scored a goal for the 2-0 Patriots. Pam Reitsma saved 11 of 13 shots.

Erin Haskell and Courtney Larson each scored a goal for the 0-2 Mariners. Christina Fifield and Heather Hutchinson combined for 10 saves on 15 shots.

Searsport 1, Bucksport 1 (2OT)

At Searsport, the host Vikings’ Nori Francis-Metzger tied the game with a goal off an assist from Jessica Plourde with 1:30 left in the first half.

Mo Hall had 23 saves on 38 shots for Searsport.

Elissa Gordon scored unassisted for the 2-0-1 Golden Bucks. Brittany Damon saved 12 of 23 shots.

BC Pats 5, DI-Stonington 2

At Deer Isle, Monique Veilleux scored two goals to lead Bangor Christian to the win over Deer Isle-Stonington.

Kellie Wiswell, Amber Leathers, and Emily Jenkins each scored a goal and Kelly Miller made an assist for 2-0 Bangor Christian. Pam Reitsman stopped six of 10 shots.

Erin Haskell and Kourtney Larson each scored a goal for the 0-2 Mariners. Wren Warner assisted Haskell’s goal in the first half. Christina Fifield saved 12 of 18 shots.

Brewer 1, Hermon 0

At Brewer, Stacie Bean scored the only goal of the game off a corner kick from Rachel Wing with 34:29 left in the first half.

Katie Harris had seven saves on seven shots for 1-1 Brewer.

Shannon Wiggin stopped 16 of 17 shots for the 0-2 Hawks.

JV: Brewer 3-2

Hampden 5, John Bapst 1

At the Eastern Maine Tech field in Bangor, Kim Stevenson scored two goals and made two assists to lead Hampden.

Tyne Franchi scored two goals, Melissa O’Donnell added a goal, and Erin Campbell had an assist for the 2-0 Broncos. Gabby Schrage stopped seven of eight shots.

Rebecca Stevens scored off a Tedda Yeo feed for 1-1 John Bapst. Ashley Cluff stopped 19 of 32 shots.

JV: Hampden 3, John Bapst 3

PVHS 1, Central 0

At Corinth, Randy Rackley tapped in a Tiffany Brown cross 11:01 into the game and Jen Plourde made it stand up with six saves for Penobscot Valley of Howland.

Nicole Daniel made six saves for Central.

Both teams are 1-1.

Hodgdon 3, Fort Fairfield 2

At Fort Fairfield, Shanna McGary scored the game-winner 23 minutes into the second half as the 7-1 Hawks edged the Tigers.

McGary also scored the first goal for Hodgdon. Amanda Fitzpatrick added a goal and Jamie Nightingale had an assist. Lindsay Stewart made three saves on eight shots.

Maranda Butler led 3-4-1 Fort Fairfield with a goal and an assist. Brittany McLaughlin also scored a goal and Ruthie Arato contributed an assist. Dani Searles stopped eight of 13 shots.

Van Buren 4, Wisdom 0

At St. Agatha, Micah Laplante scored twice as the Crusaders handed the Pioneers their first loss of the season.

Amber Martin and Amy Vaillancourt also scored for 7-1-1 Van Buren while Danielle Gagnon made nine saves on 14 shots.

Shannon Berube stopped 13 of 17 shots for 8-1 Wisdom.

Field hockey

Nokomis 2, Old Town 2 (2OT)

At Old Town, the teams battled through two overtime periods without establishing a winner.

Michelle Barden and Kelley Palmer scored the goals for 0-1-1 Nokomis of Newport while Gill Snow and Christi Kennedy handed out assists. Brandi Davis blocked three of five shots for 0-1-1 Nokomis.

Melanie Enos and Alissa Dow each scored a goal for the 1-0-1 Indians. Emily Richard stopped four of six shots.

Belfast 1, Camden Hills 0

At Belfast, Sarah Skinner knocked in the game-winner with 10:41 left in the second half to lead the Lions to the win.

Jen Jackson assisted on the goal. Tash Scott made four saves on four shots for 1-0 Belfast.

Abby Spooner stopped seven of the eight shots she faced for the 0-1 Windjammers.

JV: Belfast 6-0

Boys soccer

Rangeley 2, Greenville 1

At Greenville, Jim Goodwin’s goal on a Gabe Maura assist in the second overtime period gave Rangeley the win.

Tim Johnson scored Rangeley’s first goal in the first overtime unassisted. Gregory McCain made 11 saves on 23 shots for the 2-0 Lakers.

Matt Knowlton scored for 1-1 Greenville and Neil Stewart saved 13 of 25 shots.

Islesboro 12, Averill 0

At Islesboro, Jon Bolduc scored four goals to lead Islesboro.

T.L. Tutor scored two goals and handed out three assists, while David Pike had two goals with two assists for 1-0 Islesboro. Gavin Harkins added two goals with one assist and Rory Diffin scored two goals. Diffin also stopped three of four shots and Luke Thomas made a save on one shot.

Mike LaFlamme stopped 15 of 32 shots for 0-2 Averill of Hinckley.

Bangor Christian 1, Lee 1 (2OT)

At Bangor, Kent Doane scored an unassisted goal with 32 seconds left in the first half to tie the game for Lee.

Neither team could manage a goal in the second half as Lee goalie Kris King had six saves on 13 shots and Patriots goalie D.J. McCleary had four on six.

Ben Sobey’s unassisted goal 18 minutes into the game was the only goal for 1-0-1 Bangor Christian. Lee is now 0-3-1.

Hampden 2, John Bapst 1

At Hampden, Jake Reynolds and Nattapong Kongsuriya scored unassisted goals four minutes apart to give the Broncos a two-goal second half lead in the victory.

Ryan Hannan made one save on five shots for the 1-1 Broncos.

Bjorn Bjork tallied off a Kyle Maynard assist for the 0-2 Crusaders of Bangor. Rick Hathaway made one save on 10 shots.

Old Town 5, Orono 1

At Old Town, Andy Pease scored three goals to lead Old Town past Orono. Kevin Emerson had a goal and an assist and Matt Petrie scored a goal. Tyler Tracewski stopped nine of 11 shots for 2-0 Old Town.

Jared Dolley scored for 0-2 Orono and Evan James stopped 15 of 20 shots.

JV: Old Town 3-0

Van Buren 6, Wisdom 0

At Wisdom, Tyler Hews led the scoring for Van Buren with two goals.

Jeremy Chasse, Luiz Sadre, Tyler Lapierre, and Andrew Martin each scored a goal and Jesse Parent aided with two assists. Sean Violette and Dustin Cyr combined to stop all four shots on goal for 6-3 Van Buren.

Kenny Corriveau saved 10 of 16 shots and Curtis Roy stopped nine of 11 shots for 0-8 Wisdom.

Calais 4, Lubec 0

At Calais, Zack Gillespie scored two goals to pace the Blue Devils.

Jonathan Smith and Erik Lloyd tallied a goal apiece for 1-1 Calais while Sean Kelley, Shawn McLean and Mark Little added an assist each. Devon McPhee made four saves on five shots.

Jordan Hall made 18 saves on 30 shots for the 0-2 Hornets.

Caribou 1, Houlton 1 (2OT)

At Houlton, Ben Wakana tallied an unassisted goal with 24 minutes left in the second half and the two teams battled through two scoreless overtime periods on Tuesday.

Micah Maurio made six saves on seven shots for the 2-1-1 Vikings.

Jared Sylvia knocked in a David Lewis corner kick for 0-3-3 Houlton. Erik O’Connell made 14 saves on 15 shots.

JV: Houlton 7-1
