DEXTER – Matt Mulligan scored a second-half goal off a pass from Brody Artes as the Penobscot Valley Howlers of Howland edged Dexter 1-0 in schoolboy soccer action.

Cody Thompson got the shutout, stopping nine of 16 shots for the winners.

Brian Hersey rejected 20 of 28 shots for the Tigers.

Ellsworth 6, Sumner 1

At Ellsworth, Kris Tracy knocked in a pair of goals before play was stopped with 15 minutes to play in the second half because of lightning.

Seth Mayo had a goal plus an assist for the 1-1 Eagles. Noah Jordan, Jensen Rich and Andy Berry had a goal each and Alex McMillan added an assist. Noah Brown made two saves on four shots.

Will Seyfer blasted home a penalty kick for the 1-2 Tigers of East Sullivan. Mason Young stopped six of 23 shots.

Piscataquis 6, Foxcroft 0

At Foxcroft, John Prescott tallied three goals as the Pirates of Guilford cruised.

Harper Hoffman and Joe Jardine added a goal each for the winners, and a shot was knocked in off a Foxcroft defender. Josh Luellen faced just one shot and saved it.

Kevin Brown made four saves on 13 shots for the Ponies.

Lincoln Acad. 5, Belfast 1

At Belfast, the Eagles of Newcastle scored five unanswered goals in the second half to top the Lions.

Forrest Melhoin had a pair of goals for the 2-0 winners. Brian Farrar, Ben Thorne and Kyle Beier added a goal each. Greg Bernard made five saves on 11 shots.

Chris Williams scored the lone goal for 1-1 Belfast. Chris Abbott and Collin Cunney combined to turn back nine of 20 shots.

JV: Lincoln Acad. 3-0

Caribou 1, Houlton 1 (2OT)

At Houlton, Ben Wakana tallied an unassisted goal with 24 minutes left in the second half and the two teams battled through two scoreless overtime periods on Tuesday.

Micah Maurio made six saves on seven shots for the 2-1-1 Vikings.

Jared Sylvia knocked in a David Lewis corner kick for 0-3-3 Houlton. Erik O’Connell made 14 saves on 15 shots.

JV: Houlton 7-1

Katahdin 1, So. Aroostook 1

At Dyer Brook, Corey Edkins headed home an indirect free kick from Jarred Grant with 30 minutes remaining to tie the game. Rain and wet field conditions forced the referees to call the game three minutes later.

Travis Robinson had scored in the first half for Katahdin.

Jeff Boutilier made five saves on eight shots for 6-1-1 Southern Aroostook and Sam Cyr stopped five of nine shots for 1-1-1 Katahdin.

Central 2, Penquis 1

At Corinth, Joe Allen scored the winning goal with 44 seconds remaining in the game to lead 3-0 Central to victory.

Blake Goodwin scored and added an assist while Adam Allen recorded an assist and Scott Chambers made 14 saves on 16 shots.

Justin Allen scored for Penquis with an assist from Steven Kissell while Colby Chase stopped 16 of 19 shots for the 2-1 Patriots.

Field Hockey

Hampden 3, John Bapst 0

At Hampden, three players scored unassisted goals to lead the 1-1 Broncos past John Bapst.

Christie Mosley, Sarah Peters and Katherine Lumino each scored goals while Caroline Samp made six saves on six shots.

Julia Sleeper stopped 15 of the 18 shots she faced for the Crusaders.

JV: Hampden 1-0

Foxcroft 4, Hermon 0

At Dover-Foxcroft, Herita Reddy tallied a goal plus an assist as the Ponies galloped past the Hawks.

Emily Austin, Tamlyn Frederick and Amanda Howard provided a goal each for the 3-0 winners. Megan Ryder only faced two shots, and saved one of them.

Melissa Hill made 14 saves on 26 shots for the 0-2 Hawks.

JV: Hermon 1-0

Central 6, Brewer 0

At Corinth, Katie Ahearn and Casey Davis each scored two goals as the Red Devils rolled past the Witches.

Jody Harvey tallied a goal plus an assist for 2-0 Central, who held Brewer without a shot. Kristina Gallagher added a goal, and Jenna Dauphine was the netminder.

Sarah England made one save on 22 shots for 0-3 Brewer.

Dexter 5, Mattanawcook 0

At Dexter, Meagan Fogarty knocked in a pair of goals as the Tigers tamed the Lynx of Lincoln.

Brittany Veazie and Courtney McCormick each had a goal and two assists for 2-0 Dexter. Kristina Temple also dished out two assists, and Keriann Patterson added a goal. Cindy Koscielny faced only one shot and saved it.

Rikki White rejected 16 of 21 shots for 1-1 Mattanawcook.

Girls Soccer

Maranacook 4, Camden Hills 1

At Camden, Toby Martin knocked in two goals to spark the Black Bears of Readfield.

Krystal McCollett and Jackie Mrazik each had a goal and Johanna Ireland had an assist for 2-0 Maranacook of Readfield. Amy Cloutier stopped three of four shots.

Claire Neville scored off a pass from Caitlin Brown for the 0-1 Windjammers. Liv Mitchell and Annah Sullivan combined to make seven saves on 11 shots.

JV: Maranacook 4-0

Narraguagus 3, Sumner 0

At East Sullivan, Missy Barbee’s two goals propelled the Knights of Harrington to victory.

Jen Strout added a goal for 1-0 Narraguagus and Alicia Tenney made five saves on eight shots.

Hillary Page rejected 16 of 19 shots for the 0-3 Tigers.

Mount View 3, Oak Hill 0

At Thorndike, Molly Hauser knocked in a penalty kick and dished out an assist as the Mustangs prevailed.

Violet Soisson and Ashley Pilsbury added a goal each for 1-1 Mount View. Jennah Brown and Megan Reymayer combined to stop six of seven shots.

Hope Nadeau rejected 10 of 14 shots for the 0-1 Raiders of Sabattus.

JV: Mount View 2-0

So. Aroostook 3, Katahdin 0

At Dyer Brook, Audrey Charette scored a pair of first-half goals and Crystal Cameron made four saves as Southern Aroostook triumphed in a game that was called due to rain and poor field conditions with 37:43 left.

Mindy Watson had a goal and an assist with Olivia McGary also notching an assist.

Jayme Green faced four shots for Katahdin but wasn’t credited with a save.

Woodland 3, Shead 2

At Woodland, the Tigers were able to come back from a 2-1 halftime deficit to win the game with an unassisted goal by Kaitlyn Leeman with seven minutes remaining in the game.

Leeman also had an assist while Beth Covey scored two goals for 1-0 Woodland. Cara Kesel added an assist while Lauren Troiani made 10 saves on 12 shots.

Lauretta Ricker and Skylar Richardson each scored unassisted goals for 0-1 Shead while Roliza Dewitt stopped nine of the 12 shots she faced.
