BLUE HILL – The George Stevens Academy boys soccer team scored three unanswered goals in the second half, including Blake Wessel’s game-winner with 5:34 left, to edge Mount Desert Island 3-2 in high school action.
Peter Graves, who assisted on Wessel’s winner, started GSA’s scoring when he put in a penalty kick after an MDI red card. Mark Clapp’s goal tied the game. James Friend made eight saves on 13 shots for the 2-1 Eagles.
Kyle Jones and Alex Galo each scored for 0-2 MDI. Adam Thurston stopped eight of 11 shots.
Lawrence 6, Leavitt 0
At Turner, Marshall Holmes had a hat trick and also notched an assist as the Bulldogs from Fairfield improved to 3-0.
Brandon Grudda scored a pair of goals and C.J. Perry opened the scoring. Kevin Hageman, James Marin, Chris Sterling and Evan Weymouth had assists and Nate Lovitz made three saves in posting the shutout.
Corey Brule and Sam Madore combined for 12 saves on 22 shots for 1-2 Leavitt.

Orono 2, Hermon 0
At Orono, Sam Walton and Tom Smyth scored goals in the Red Riots win over the Hawks.
Alyosha Klose assisted on each of the goals and Evan James stopped all 10 shots he faced for 1-2 Orono.
Phil Cayford saved eight of 10 shots for 1-2 Hermon.

Washburn 4, Fort Fairfield 2
At Fort Fairfield, Zachary Bird scored the game-winner 13 seconds after Fort Fairfield tied it as the Washburn earned the win, knocking off the previously undefeated Tigers.
Bird’s winner, which came with just under 10 minutes remaining, resulted from a scramble in the penalty area. Bird and Dan Harris each finished with two goals. Jason Thompson made 10 saves on 20 shots for the 6-2-3 Beavers.
Mickey Browning scored and Ryan Helstrom had the other Fort Fairfield goal off a Browning assist. Tyler Bernaiche made five saves on nine shots for 8-1 Fort Fairfield.
Field hockey
Rockland 4, Erskine 2
At Rockland, Caitlin Grant knocked in three goals and added an assist to power the Tigers past the Eagles.
Whitney Rossiter chipped in with a goal and an assist. Beth Allen had an assist and Jessica Sleeper stopped four of 11 shots for 2-0 Rockland.
Kelsy Cloutier and Kristen Burke each scored a goal for 0-1 Erskine of South China. Sarah Anderson made 11 saves on 23 shots.
Winslow 2, Belfast 1
At Winslow, Mallory Finley’s goal with 10 minutes remaining in the second half lifted the Black Raiders to victory.
Amanda Kimball added a goal for 1-1 Winslow and Cierra Byrne stopped eight of nine shots.
Jen Jackson scored off a pass from Sarah Skinner for the 1-1 Lions. Tash Scott rejected 16 of 18 shots.

Girls soccer
Dexter 3, Penquis 0
At Milo, sisters Sarah and Lindsey Turner provided a goal each, with Sarah’s coming on a penalty kick, as the 3-0 Tigers prevailed.
Sabrina Cote added a goal and assist for the winners. Daphne Robichaud made 13 saves on 17 shots.
Ashley Pelletier stopped 13 of 16 shots for the 0-2 Patriots.
Nokomis 5, Foxcroft 1
At Dover-Foxcroft, five different players scored for the Warriors in their victory.
Danielle Clark, Lindsey Welch, Aimee Paradis, Michelle Murray and Danielle Palmer each put in one goal. Jennifer Roach had two assists and Tia Beauregard made eight saves on 10 shots for 2-0-1 Nokomis of Newport.
Leslie Nelson scored for the 0-3 Ponies. Katie Walsh made 20 saves on 39 shots.
Bucksport 5, George Stevens 0
At Bucksport, Elissa Gordon tallied two goals and two assists as the Golden Bucks rolled.
Chelsea Whitten, Jill Richards and Jessie Taylor provided a goal each for 2-0-1 Bucksport. Shaina Goode added an assist, and Brittany Damon made one save on five shots.
Liz Tyler stopped 15 of 26 shots for the 1-1 Eagles of Blue Hill.

At Old Town, Hannah Marquis knocked in all three goals as the Indians rolled.
Erin Reardon and Heather Surette each added an assist for 3-0 Old Town. Whitney Carey made 10 saves on 14 shots.
Ashley Cluff stopped 13 of 18 shots for the 1-2 Crusaders of Bangor.

At Howland, Megan Carey made 12 saves on 19 shots to earn a shutout for the Howlers.
Jessica Day, Jodi King and Kayla Hathaway each scored a goal for 1-2 Penobscot Valley. Ashley Page added an assist.
Jen Plourde stopped seven of 10 shots for the 2-1 Wolverines of East Millinocket.
BC Patriots 2, Central 2 (2OT)
At Bangor, the Red Devils of Corinth and Patriots couldn’t find a winner through two overtimes.
Monique Veilleux tallied both goals for 2-0-1 Bangor Christian and Emily Jenkins added an assist. Pam Reitsma stopped five of nine shots.
Tawna Crosby scored off a penalty kick for 1-1-1 Central. Sadie Chretian scored off a Nicole Richard pass. Nicole Daniel made nine saves on 15 shots.
Hampden 3, Bangor 1
At Hampden, Kim Stephenson tallied two goals, including a penalty kick, plus an assist as the 3-0 Broncos prevailed.
Erin Campbell scored off a pass from Danielle Billings for the winners. Emmy Russell made five saves on eight shots.
Erica Schweikert scored for the 1-1-1 Rams. Ilyse Angst stopped seven out of 20 shots.

Presque Isle 2, Caribou 0
At Caribou, Melissa DeMerchant and Jessica Price combined on a shutout, stopping 10 of 19 shots as the Wildcats handed rival Caribou their first loss.
Billi Blanchard and Bailey Hovey provided a goal each for 2-3 Presque Isle.
Leah Drew rejected five of nine shots for the 5-1 Vikings.

Washburn 2, Fort Fairfield 1
At Fort Fairfield, Amber Blakney scored 3:15 into the second overtime period to give the Beavers the win.
Blakney scored when she beat an offside trap and went in alone on the goalie. Blakney also notched Washburn’s first goal off an assist from Dominique Kir and Jamie Abar stopped six of eight shots for the 4-6-1 Beavers.
Ruthie Arato scored 3-5-1 Fort Fairfield’s goal and Dani Searles made 10 saves on 17 shots.
Van Buren 3, Fort Kent 2
At Van Buren, Amy Vaillancourt knocked in the game-winner with 20 minutes left in the second half to propel the Crusaders to victory.
Micah LaPlante and Natalie Cormier had a goal each for 8-1-1 Van Buren and Casie Caron added an assist. Danielle Gagnon made six saves on nine shots.
Allison Daigle and Meaghan Minzy tallied an unassisted goal each for the 6-2 Warriors. Mindy Morneault stopped seven of 13 shots.
Limestone 2, Wisdom 1
At Limestone, Ashley Brooker’s 18-yard shot sailed high into the far corner with 4:10 left in the first half to break a 1-1 tie and supply Limestone with the upset victory.
Brooker had scored earlier in the half off a Jacinda St. Pierre pass before Michelle Bourgoin equalized off a Heather Anderson pass.
Nikki Michaud made 24 saves for 3-4-1 Limestone while Shannon Berube had 16 stops for 8-2 Wisdom.
Houlton 1, Hodgdon 0
At Hodgdon, Megan Griffin’s first-half unassisted goal lifted the Shiretowners to an upset of rival Hodgdon.
Anna Lenentine registered the shutout for 2-4 Houlton, stopping nine of 13 shots.
Lindsay Stewart countered with a 14-save, 18-shot effort for the 7-2 Hawks.
