Alger Yanush

Alger Yanush of Maine Maritime Academy in Castine has been selected as the New England Football Conference Defensive Player of the Week. The sophomore linebacker from Milford made 13 tackles, nine unassisted, in the Mariners’ 30-29 loss to Mount Ida on Saturday. He made a sack for a safety.

Tara Bedard

America East has named University of Maine field hockey player Tara Bedard its player of the week. The Skowhegan native scored two goals and added three assists in two 4-0 wins over the University of Rhode Island.

Brian Kelly

Colby College defender Brian Kelly has been named the New England Small College Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Player of the Week. The sophomore from Milford Mass., scored the only goal as the Mules won 1-0 over Bates College on Saturday.

Brian Mawhinney

Brian Mawhinney of UMaine-Farmington has been named the Webber Energy men’s offensive soccer player of the week. The senior midfielder from Farmington had a goal and an assist in two games last week.

Chris Vigezzi

Chris Vigezzi of UMaine-Farmington has been named the Webber Energy/Sunrise Conference Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week. The sophomore back from Merrimack, N.H., led the Beavers in a pair of shutout wins.

Megan Woodcock

Megan Woodcock of UMaine-Farmington has been named the Webber Energy/Sunrise Conference Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week. The senior midfielder from Farmington scored seven goals and had two assists in three wins.

Alyson Pontbriand

Alyson Pontbriand of UMaine-Farmington has been named the Webber Energy/Sunrise Conference Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week. The senior ‘keeper from Auburn didn’t allow a goal in three games.
