BANGOR – Caribou freshman Mike Hoffman scored his first collegiate goal to lift the Husson College Braves to a 1-0 men’s soccer victory over the Saint Joseph’s College Monks Monday.
Matt Goodman made 12 saves for the Braves
Hideyuki Adachi set up the goal by bursting around a defender off a Lee Bennett throw-in and slotting the ball across the goalmouth to Hoffman, who deposited it into the empty net.
Husson is now 2-1 while Saint Joseph’s of Standish fell to 2-3.

Boston University 1, Maine 0
At Boston, freshman striker Meghann Cook converted a right-wing cross from Katie Smurthwaite 15:29 into the game and that was all the defending America East champions needed as the Terriers extended Maine’s scoreless drought to 330 minutes and 56 seconds.
It was a mutual America East opener.
Boston University improved to 3-2-1 overall while Maine fell to 2-3. Maine has suffered three consecutive 1-0 setbacks.
The Bears outshot the Terriers 14-9 but BU goalie Jessica Clinton made eight saves to keep them off the scoreboard. Naomi Welsh had four stops for Maine.
Bowdoin 5, UNE 2
At Brunswick, Rachael Gordon and Jill Falwell scored a pair of goals apiece and Gordon also had an assist as Bowdoin rallied for four unanswered second-half goals to improve to 2-0-1.
Kelsey Wilcox had the other Bowdoin goalie and Anna Shapell and Rebekah Metzler combined for four saves.
Krissy Forman had a goal and an assist for the 2-1 University of New England, Kayce Howard had the other goal and goalkeeper Jayne Tarkleson made 16 saves.
MMA 1, Thomas 1 (2OT)
At Castine, Amanda Johnson’s second-half score off an Amy Asselin assist earned Maine Maritime Academy the tie with Thomas of Waterville.
Meghan Marshall made four saves on eight shots for the Mariners, 2-1-2.
Dawn Foss gave the 1-2-1 Terriers a 1-0 lead with her first-half goal. Goalkeeper Jessie Craft made 12 saves on 22 shots.

At Gorham, freshman forward Rachael Nimon scored her first collegiate goal with 7:27 remaining in the game to give the Huskies the win over the Pilgrims.
Southern Maine had opened the scoring in the first half when freshman Sarah Metivier of Old Town scored off an assist from sophomore Stephanie Daggett of Guilford.
Jessie Superchi saved four of five shots for the 2-2 Southern Maine Huskies.
Laura Buffa scored and goalkeeper Krista Milroy made four saves on six shots for 4-1 New England College of Henniker, N.H.
