Millinocket, Lincoln seek candidates

Time is running out for Lincoln and Millinocket residents planning to seek seats on their respective town councils or school boards in the Nov. 5 municipal elections.

The deadline for filing nomination papers is 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, in both communities.

In Lincoln, residents can obtain nomination papers from Town Clerk Lisa Goodwin. Lincoln residents are required to collect the names of at least 25 registered voters of the town.

In Millinocket, residents can obtain papers from Town Clerk Diane Lombard. Millinocket residents must collect the names of at least 25 registered voters, but no more than 100.

Eight seats are open on various boards in Lincoln, but only five people have returned nomination papers. Goodwin said four other residents have taken out papers for the school board and the sanitary district, but have not returned them yet.

There are two three-year terms on the Lincoln Town Council. The terms of Robert Tomilson and John Weatherbee will expire. James Libby and John Weatherbee have returned papers.

There are three three-year terms on the SAD 67 board of directors. The terms of Bryant Potts, Donald Worcester Jr. and Mary Keegan will expire. Mary Keegan and Lynn Sanderson have returned papers.

There are three three-year terms on the Lincoln Sanitary District board of trustees. The terms of Philip Andrews, Daniel Cole and Wendell Porter will expire. Porter has returned his papers.

Five seats are open on two Millinocket boards, but only three people have returned nomination papers. Lombard said six other people have taken out papers for the council seats, but have not returned them and two others have taken out papers for the school board, but have not returned them.

There are three three-year terms on the Millinocket Town Council. The terms of Gail Fanjoy, Scott Gonya and Matt Polstein will expire. Elizabeth Woughter has returned papers.

There are two three-year terms on the Millinocket school board. The terms of Jayne Bartley and Tom Malcolm will expire. Bartley and Malcolm have returned papers.
