BREWER – Erin Campbell’s first-half goal proved to be the game-winner as the Hampden Academy Broncos defeated the Brewer Witches 2-0 in schoolgirl soccer action Wednesday.
Tyne Franchi added a goal for 5-0 Hampden. Danielle Billings and Kim Stephenson had an assist apiece.
Emmy Russell and Gabby Schrage combined for six saves on six shots for the winners.
Katie Harris stopped 14 of 16 shots for the 2-3 Witches.
Orono 2, MDI 1
At Mount Desert Olivia Alfond’s second goal of the match came with just seven remaining in the game and gave the Red Riots the narrow 2-1 win over the Trojans.
Marie Lint registered 20 saves on 21 shots for Orono.
Jenna Gordius scored an unassisted goal for Mount Desert Island. Trina Smith made eight saves on 10 shots.
Central 0, Foxcroft 0 (20T)
At Dover-Foxcroft, the Red Devils of Corinth and Ponies battled to a deadlock in two overtimes.
Nicole Daniel made 17 saves on 22 shots for 1-1-2 Central, while Katie Walsh countered with five saves against seven shots for 0-4-1 Foxcroft.
Lee 4, Penquis 1
At Milo, Shelby Pickering scored all four goals for 5-0 Lee, one in the first half and three in the second, to lead the Pandas to victory.
Ashlee Gifford faced 27 shots and stopped 12 for Lee.
Erin Beasley scored with an assist from Jen Hussey while Ashley Pelletier and Amanda Martin combined to make 12 saves on 27 shots for 1-3 Penquis.
Dexter 4, Schenck 3
At East Millinocket, Lindsay Turner blasted home a penalty kick with 17:50 remaining in the second half to lift Dexter past Schenck.
Turner added another goal and two assists for the 4-1 Tigers. Sabrina Cole knocked in two goals and dished out an assist. Daphne Robichaud rejected four out of 10 shots.
Cortney McLaughlin and Jessica Day each had an unassisted goal for the 1-2 Wolverines. Kayla Hathaway scored off a pass from Beth Chasse, and Megan Carey stopped 11 of 15 shots.
Field hockey
Central 5, Orono 0
At East Corinth, Katie Ahearn scored two goals and Jenny Rollins recorded three assists to help lead 4-0 Central to the win.
Heather Lyford, Jody Harvey and Casey Davis scored a goal apiece while Traci Underhill had an assist and Jenna Dauphinee stopped four of four shots.
Jessie Newcomb made 26 saves on 39 shots for 0-4 Orono.

Dexter 2, Piscataquis 1
At Dexter, Meagan Fogarty tallied two goals as the Tigers remained unbeaten.
Courtney McCormick and Sarah Wyman had an assist each. Cindy Koscielny stopped two out of three shots for 4-0 Dexter.
Tedianne Galuski knocked in an unassisted goal for the 2-3 Pirates of Guilford. Amy Knowlton made 12 saves on 16 shots.

Boys soccer
Orono 0, Nokomis 0 (2OT)
At Orono, the Warriors of Newport and Red Riots battled through two overtimes without a winner emerging.
Evan James made 12 saves on 16 shots for 1-3-1 Orono while 3-1-1 Nokomis’ Mike Jacques turned away seven of 11 shots.
JV: Orono 3-0
Machias 3, Sumner 3 (2OT)
At Machias, goalie Marcus Frutchey make five saves on 10 shots, including two penalty- kick saves, to help keep the game tied up for the 3-0-1 Bulldogs.
Ken Morse scored unassisted for Machias while Austin Roberts scored with an assist from Isaiah Roberts and Joe Richards added a goal on a pass from Chris Correll.
Will Seyffer scored all three goals for 1-3-1 Sumner while Geoffrey Kidder and Alex Klein each had assists. Mason Young faced 15 shots and stopped eight.
Van Buren 2, Ashland 1
At Ashland, Fabian Deuchler’s goal with 20:54 remaining in the game proved to be a match winner as the Crusaders edged the Hornets.
Deuchler’s goal came on a Jesse Parent assist and was Deuchler’s second goal of the game. Dustin Cyr and Sean Violette combined to stop six of 16 shots for 8-4 Van Buren.
Kenny Lewin scored for 4-2-1 Ashland and Brock Bessey picked up an assist. Buck Pineau saved 17 of 31 shots.
East Grand 7, Liberty 1
At Danforth, Darius Parker scored five goals to carry 3-3 East Grand past Liberty.
Chris Irish scored a goal and had two assists while Eric Hannington added a goal and Richard Byers tallied two assists. James Crone chipped in with an assist and Seth Preston stopped nine of 13 shots.
Graham Haley scored with an assist from Tyler Leath while Shawn Marshall made 13 saves on 26 shots for 0-2 Liberty.
