Burdin powers Pirates

BANGOR – Chase Burdin scored one goal and assisted on another Thursday to lead Piscataquis Community of Guilford to a 3-0 schoolboy soccer victory over Bangor Christian.

Caleb Davis and Matt Free added a goal each for the 3-0-3 Pirates. Josh Luellen earned the shutout, making six saves on 13 shots.

D.J. McCleary stopped 14 out of 24 shots for 3-1-1 Bangor Christian.

Greenville 7, Valley 0

At Greenville, Jonah Lizotte scored two goals and notched an assist to help the Lakers improve to 5-1.

Rory Owens, Nathan Woodbury, and Kevin Lebel each added a goal and an assist for the winners. Richard Folsom and Kyle Belmont had a goal apiece. Gregory Aucoin made seven saves on seven shots.

For 1-4 Valley of Bingham, Eric Hatfield made 11 saves on 18 shots.

Dexter 1, DI-Stonington 1 (2OT)

At Dexter, Doug Henson scored for the Mariners with 5:04 to play in the second half, but the goalkeepers held down the fort after that.

Chris Gray managed 14 saves on 23 shots for 1-3-1 Deer Isle-Stonington.

Adam Eastman scored a first-half goal for the 1-3-1 Tigers. Brian Hersey made six saves on eight shots.

Hermon 4, Foxcroft 1

At Dover-Foxcroft, Jason Shorey racked up two goals plus an assist as the Hawks defeated the Ponies.

Brian McGinley and Chris Harding scored a goal each for 2-2-2 Hermon. Joey Carmichael and Adam Gould had an assist each. Chris Fournier made 14 saves on 17 shots.

Manuel Blanc tallied a goal and Sunny Kim an assist for 1-4 Foxcroft. Kevin Brown and Dan Lubas combined to stop seven of 13 shots.

John Bapst 4, Penquis 1

At Milo, the Crusaders of Bangor tallied three second-half goals to break a 1-1 halftime deadlock.

A.J. Stein, Sam Hill, Josh Jameson and Bjocen Sudeck picked up a goal each for 3-2-1 John Bapst. Sam Gray dished out an assist. Rick Hathaway rejected nine of 15 shots.

Jordan Allen scored off a pass from brother Justin Allen for the Patriots. Kevin Nason made 15 saves on 21 shots.

Highview Christian 9, Averill 1

At Hinckley, Nick Waite scored four goals and assisted on another and Thiago Martinelli had a pair of goals and two assists as Highview Christian upped its record to 3-0.

Anthony Kneeland, Chad Crooker and William Allard had the other goals for the winners. Andrew Richard had an assist and Aaron Waite made nine saves on 13 shots.

David Arnold converted a penalty kick for 0-4-1 Averill and Christian Gregor made 33 saves on 57 shots.

Monmouth 5, Carrabec 1

At North Anson, five different players scored for the Mustangs in the victory.

Mark Wade, Robert Wells, Steve Brauthwaite, Shane Kibler and Josh Straep all scored for 2-2 Monmouth. Kyle Pelletier needed to make only two saves on just six shots.

Trey Gaw provided the goal for the 0-4 Cobras. John Cretien and Jeremy Howell combined to make seven saves on 14 shots.

Belfast 3, Maranacook 3 (2OT)

At Belfast, Chris Williams scored off an assist by Aaron Cross with 2:23 left in regulation, giving the Lions a tie against the Black Bears.

Belfast (3-1-1) had erased a 3-1 deficit on goals by Caleb Barnaby and Williams. Robert Johnson scored the other goal, with Cross assisting on all three.

Chris Abbott and Collin Cunning combined to make nine saves on 27 shots.

Charlie Calligan scored twice for 4-0-1 Maranacook of Readfield. Evan Haines tallied once, while Mike Buckley making six saves on 19 shots.

JV: Maranacook 3-1

George Stevens 7, Searsport 1

At Blue Hill, Mike Astbury and Blake Wessel racked up two goals each as the Eagles rolled.

Andrew Lymburner and James Lawsing each had a goal and an assist for 4-1 George Stevens. Nick Henry had a goal, and Mark Clapp and Tim Carter had an assist each. James Friend and Mark Ensworth combined to make eight saves on 15 shots.

Islesboro 5, Chop Point 0

At Islesboro, T.L. Tutor tallied two goals plus an assist to spark the Eagles.

Luke Thomas added a goal plus an assist for 4-0 Islesboro and Jon Bolduc and Garvin Hawkins added a goal each. Luke Thomas and Tim Kerr didn’t face any shots.

Logan Shaffer made 20 saves on 31 shots for Chop Point of Woolwich.

Girls soccer

Greenville 3, Valley 1

At Bingham, Diane Aucoin tallied a goal plus an assist to spark the Lakers.

Kristen Sutherland and Krystal Ferris had a goal each for 2-3 Greenville. Bethany Bartley had seven saves on eight shots.

Kristen Baker scored off a Marcy MacDonald pass for the 1-3 Cavaliers. Emma McAllister stopped 20 of 23 shots.

Highview Christian 4, Averill 1

At Hinckley, Carissa Cary scored a pair of goals to pace Highview Christian of Charleston

Heather Meyer and Lauren Plourde scored the other goals with Plourde and Linda Pereira each picking up assists. Sherry Cooper made eight saves on 17 shots.

Angela Alley scored off a Danielle Bowen pass for Averill and Natasha Gagne made 14 saves on 22 shots.

Belfast 2, Maranacook 1 (2OT)

At Readfield, all three goals were scored in the last two minutes of regulation and overtime.

In the overtime, Belfast’s Jenny Cameron headed home a Katie Nickerson corner kick to end the late-game excitement.

With 25 seconds to play, Sam Ellis of 4-1 Belfast sent in a direct kick from 35 yards, which was misplayed by the goalie, and a Maranacook defender knocked it into the net.

Megan Gasbarrone’s goal off an assist from Toby Barton had given the 4-1 Black Blears a 1-0 lead with two minutes left.

Emily Worth and Bryna Harrington combined to make six saves on seven shots for the Lions. Krystal McCollett rejected five of seven shots for the Black Bears.

JV: 0-0 tie.

Field hockey

Dexter 4, Stearns 0

At Dexter, Meagan Fogarty scored two goals and assisted on one to help the undefeated Tigers roll to their fifth victory.

Courtney McCormick and Sarah Wyman each added a goal for the Tigers and Nicci Burton and Michia McKusick had an assist apiece. Cindy Koscielny made two saves on two shots.

For 2-2 Stearns of Millinocket, Kristen Bradbury registered 30 saves on 39 shots.

Belfast 1, Waterville 1 (2OT)

At Belfast, the Lions outshot the Purple Panthers 21-4, but only got the ball past by Lindsey Booker once (20 saves on 21 shots) to salvage the tie.

Morgan Crandall tallied the goal for 1-2-1 Belfast. Tash Scott stopped three of four shots.

Rochelle Roberts scored off a pass from Annie Pease for 3-1-1 Watervile.

JV: Waterville 3-1
