Warren Center thanks

The staff of the Warren Center for Communication & Learning wishes to thank the readers of the Bangor Daily News and The Weekly for their generous support of the Regional Hearing Aid Bank (ReHAB) program.

The Warren Center has relied greatly upon community support since its founding over 40 years ago. This summer, the BDN and The Weekly published information about the ReHAB program, for which we have been seeking hearing aids that people may have but are not using.

The community has been so wonderfully supportive of our program. We have received hearing aids from as far as Presque Isle, Milbridge, Winter Harbor, Kingman and many of the communities surrounding Bangor. Many of those hearing aids have been behind-the-ear hearing aids, which we can have refurbished and which will be given to a qualifying person in need of a hearing aid. In-the-ear hearing aids provide us with a monetary credit, which we can use to help pay to refurbish the behind-the-ear aids we will give away.

Some donations have included touching letters of support for the program, which are also very important to us. The kindness and generosity of readers of the BDN and The Weekly have brought us not only much assistance, but also much joy. The ReHAB program is only one of many programs at the Warren Center, none of which would be possible without the kindness of and help of our community members, financial supporters and in-kind donors.

We at the Warren Center truly want to thank the community for its support. In a time when life seems dominated by bad news, your generosity reminds us of how fortunate we are to live in an area populated by such kind and caring individuals.
