Ashland boys and girls teams notch victories over Warriors

ASHLAND – Bruce Oakes scored two unassisted goals to help the Ashland Hornets beat the Southern Aroostook Warriors 4-1 in schoolboy soccer action Tuesday.

Jeremy Baker added a goal and an assist for the 5-3-1 winners. Jesse Good chipped in with a goal and Alan O’Clair notched an assist while Buck Pineau made 17 saves on 25 shots.

Tommy St. Pierre converted a penalty kick for 8-2-2 SAHS and goalies Jeff Boutilier and Rusty Toothaker combined for six saves on 18 shots.

Narraguagus 2, Calais 0

At Harrington, Knights goalie Jamie Bailey made five saves on five shots to earn the shutout.

Gabe Checker and Saben Rossi each scored a goal for 2-4-1 Narraguagus. Cory Worcester added an assist.

Devon McPhee stopped 13 of 15 shots for the 1-6 Blue Devils.

Penquis 2, John Bapst 1

At Bangor, Justin Allen scored unassisted with 8:32 remaining in the second half to lead 6-1-1 Penquis of Milo to victory.

Cameron Wellman also scored an unassisted goal while Kevin Nason made 19 saves on 20 shots.

Bjoern Sudeck scored unassisted for 2-4-1 John Bapst while Rick Hathaway faced nine shots and stopped seven.

Greenville 2, Bangor Christian 1

At Greenville, Jonah Lizotte scored both goals for 6-2 Greenville, including the game-winner with 3:01 left in the second half.

Chris Waldron and Kevin Bradford provided assists on Lizotte’s goals. Gregory Aucoin stopped six of seven shots.

Josh Griffin scored 4-2-1 Bangor Christian’s goal 3:31 into the first half. D.J. McCleary made six saves on eight shots.

Girls soccer

Ashland 5, So. Aroostook 1

At Ashland, Jessica Jacques scored two goals and Caitlin Sherman scored one and assisted on three to lead the Hornets to victory.

Pam Spooner and Beth Chamberlin each chipped in with a goal for the 3-6 winners and Amber Smith and Ashlee Peters added an assist apiece. Ashley Nemer made six saves on 11 shots.

Mindy Watson scored an unassisted goal for 3-7 Southern Aroostook of Dyer Brook and Crystal Cameron made 15 saves on 33 shots.

Hampden 2, Presque Isle 0

At Hampden, Danielle Billings and Tyne Franchi each scored first-half goals to lead the undefeated Broncos to their seventh victory.

Jesse Aylward assisted on both goals and Emmy Russell made seven saves on 10 shots.

Melissa DeMerchant and Jessica Price combined for three saves on nine shots for 6-4 Presque Isle.

JV: Presque Isle 4-1

Schenck 2, Katahdin 0

At East Millinocket, Megan Carey saved all nine shots she faced as the Wolverines halted the Katahdin winning streak at three.

Lindsay Nicholson, with an assist from Laura Davis, and Cortney McLaughlin posted the goals for 4-3 Schenck.

Jayme Green made 20 saves on 24 shots for the 3-7 Cougars of Sherman Station.

Narraguagus 3, Calais 1

At Calais, Jennifer Strout scored two goals to lead the Knights past the Blue Devils.

Linny Barbee had a goal and an assist while Missy Barbee and Erica Mann assisted on goals for 5-1 Narraguagus of Harrington. Alicia Tenney turned away 14 of 18 shots.

Crystal Martin had the Calais goal and Darcey Gillespie saved 10 of 13 shots for the 2-2-2 Blue Devils.

Bucksport 3, Nokomis 0

At Newport, Elissa Gordon scored two goals, and had one assist to lead the Golden Bucks.

Nichole Pacheco added a goal and Alice Andrews had one assist for the 6-0-1 Golden Bucks.

Nokomis is now 2-3-1.

Dexter 4, Central 0

At Dexter, Lindsay Turner led 6-1 Dexter in scoring with three goals. Emily Whalen also scored a goal as Sabrina Cote and Ashley Foster made two assists. Daphne Robichaud stopped six of eight Central shots.

Nicole Daniel made 21 saves on 27 shots for 1-3-2 Central.

GSA 13, DI-Stonington 0

At Blue Hill, Brandi Winters scored four goals and Bethany Roberts had four goals and an assist to help carry 2-3 George Stevens Academy past Deer Isle-Stonington.

Anastasia Osage added three goals and an assist while Robin Rioux had a goal and an assist and LaKeisha Allen chipped in with a goal for the winners.

Chelsea Duddy, Simone Crowe, Sadie Beardsworth and Patti Lymburner each recorded assists for the Eagles while Liz Tyler and Samantha Haskell faced four shots.

Cristina Fifield and Erin Haskell faced a total of 43 shots for 0-6 Deer Isle-Stonington and made 15 saves.

Searsport 2, Bangor Christian 0

At Bangor, Nori Francis-Metzger scored both goals to lift the Vikings to victory.

Katya Kanus assisted the second goal in the second half. Mo Hall stopped six of seven shots for 5-0-1 Searsport.

Pam Reitsman blocked 11 of 14 shots for 3-1-2 Bangor Christian.

Orono 2, Old Town 1

At Orono, Sarah Carlisle scored a goal with an assist from Kaylee Westhoven to give 2-3-1 Orono the edge.

Olivia Alford scored an unassisted goal for the Red Riots while Marie Lint made 12 saves on 23 shots.

Hannah Marquis scored off a pass from Heather Surette and Libby Caldwell stopped 10 of 17 shots for 4-3 Old Town.

JV: Old Town 3-1

Penquis 2, John Bapst 1

At Milo, Kylie Palmer scored both goals to give 3-4 Penquis the win. Palmer’s game-winning goal came with 9:55 left in the second half.

Amanda Martin made eight saves on 13 shots.

Tedda Yeo scored the game’s first goal unassisted. Ashley Cluff stopped six of 10 shots for 2-4-1 John Bapst.

JV: 0-0

Hermon 3, Foxcroft 0

At Hermon, Jessie Wiggin scored a pair of goals and assisted on the other as Hermon upped its record to 2-3-1. Foxcroft fell to 0-6-1.

Wiggin opened the scoring in the first half off a Gillian Miller pass and, 4:14 later, she set up Cassie White’s goal. Wiggin converted an Alisa Petrello pass in the second half.

Shannon Dobbins and Lauren Fournier made five saves for Hermon while Kate Walsh had 16 stops for Foxcroft.

Mount View 2, MCI 1 (2OT)

At Pittsfield, Violette Soisson scored two goals, including the game-winner with five seconds remaining in the second overtime, to lift 2-4 Mount View to victory.

Sara Ingraham recorded the assist on the game-winning goal while Megan Rehmeyer faced 13 shots and stopped 12.

Megan Dodge scored with an assist from Lindsay Dipasqual while Kasey Dodge made nine saves on 11 shots for 0-6 Maine Central Institute.
