Two items in today’s news: The Bangor Daily News, with its excellent coverage of the Honduran community, and The New Yorker magazine with its slick ads for expensive Gap Clothing.
One cannot escape this juxtaposition of incongruities. Those fancy ads in The New Yorker are printed on paper made possible by the efforts of very poor migratory workers. As a 1930s liberal, I find this a difficult guilt trip to manage.
