Dube, Price power UM-Farmington to victory

FARMINGTON – Goals by Richelle Dube in the first half and Addie Price in the second lifted the University of Maine-Farmington Beavers to a 2-0 women’s soccer win over the Saint Joseph’s College Monks Thursday.

Dube’s goal was unassisted and Price’s was assisted by Megan Woodcock. Alyson Pontbriand saved five of six shots for the 5-1 Beavers. Shana Howard had seven saves on 21 shots for the 2-4 Monks of Standish.

USM 1, UM-Farmington 0 (2OT)

At Farmington, Renee Heath’s goal with under six minutes to play in the second overtime gave the Huskies the win.

The goal came off a penalty corner. Deedra Beverdige set the play up for Darci Holland, who passed across the top of the circle to set up the tally for 6-2 Southern Maine. Holland was credited with the assist. Jessie Superchi stopped all six shots she faced.

Fawn Albert rejected 16 out of 18 shots for the 3-3 Beavers.

Men’s soccer

Unity 3, Thomas 2

At Waterville Wednesday, Andy Brower netted the game-winner with 12 minutes remaining to lift the 8-1 Rams.

Brower added a second goal and Jeremy McCormick also scored for Unity. Tim Howland and Colin Edmondson each added an assist and Jason Snell made six saves on 11 shots.

Mike Healy scored twice for the 2-3-1 Terriers. Daniel Taylor stopped five of nine shots.

Colby-Sawyer 2, So. Maine 1

At New London, N.H., Ben Fortin, a North Yarmouth Academy gradutate, notched the game-winner in the 85th minute off a cross from Dimitri Dimakis to give the host Chargers the win.

Matt Athorn tallied a goal for the 4-1-2 winners. Joe Albiston and Adam Perron combined to make two saves on eight shots.

Simeon Allolding scored an unassisted goal for the 2-2-1 Huskies. Chris Willard stopped seven out of 15 shots.
