PRESQUE ISLE – The Presque Isle Wildcats broke a scoreless first half with three goals, two on penalty kicks, to knock off the Bangor Rams 3-1 in schoolgirl soccer action Saturday.
Natasha Deschene scored on a penalty kick three minutes into the second half and Billi Blanchard converted another five minutes later. Lauren Wildeman capped the PI scoring when she scored 10 minutes later off a Kylan Smith pass.
Melissa DeMerchant and Jessica Price combined for three saves on five shots for the 7-4 Wildcats.
Jessie Roberts scored for 5-2-1 Bangor with 10 minutes left in the game when she converted a Kristin Bogan pass. Ilyse Angst made eight saves on 13 shots.
JV: Bangor 3-2
Fort Kent 1, Old Town 1 (2OT)
At Fort Kent, Gabrielle Cyr’s unassisted goal with 30:09 remaining enabled Fort Kent to earn a tie.
Erin Reardon’s unassisted goal gave Old Town the lead with 1:04 left in the first half.
McKenzie Boucher made nine saves on 12 shots for 4-5-1 Fort Kent while Rene Thibodeau stopped 10 of 20 shots for 4-3-1 Old Town.
A potential game-winning goal for Fort Kent was waved off because the referees ruled the ball had crossed the line after time had elapsed in the second overtime.

Narraguagus 1, Woodland 0
At Woodland, Linny Barbee scored off a pass from Shelby Howe 55 seconds before halftime for the 7-1 Knights of Harrington.
Alicia Tenney got the shutout, making 12 saves on 20 shots. Lauren Troiani stopped 10 out of 14 shots for the 5-3-1 Dragons.
Shead 1, East Grand 0
At Eastport, Samantha Davis’ 18-yard chip shot midway through the first half was the only goal Roliza DeWitt needed as she made eight saves to help Shead improve its record to 4-2-1.
Paula Osnoe made 19 saves for 2-2-1 East Grand of Danforth.
Rangeley 2, Valley 0
At Bingham, Amber Frost’s goal 10:19 into the game proved to be the game-winner for the Lakers.
Katie Drosdik assisted on Frost’s goal for 4-2-1 Rangeley. Sarah Schrader put it away with a second-half goal. Alicia Frost stopped all seven shots she faced.
Loretta Fitzmaurice made seven saves on nine shots for the 2-6 Cavaliers.
Orono 1, Ellsworth 0
At Orono, Olivia Alford sped by a defender and tucked the ball inside the far post with 28:34 remaining to supply the Riots with their third win against four losses and a tie.
Ellsworth fell to 2-5.
Marie Lint made six saves on eight shots for Orono while Victoria Jones stopped six of 10 for Ellsworth.
Central 2, DI-Stonington 1
At Corinth, Tawnya Crosby converted a breakaway with 21:45 remaining to break a 1-1 tie.
Danielle Collins had the other goal for 2-4-2 Central off an Ashley Partridge assist and Nicole Daniel made nine saves on 11 shots.
Anna Lawson scored off a Wren Warner assist for 0-7 Deer Isle-Stonington and Christine Fifield made six saves on 14 shots.
Boys soccer
Bangor 3, Presque Isle 0
At Presque Isle, Ryan Jeffrey set up Bret Mitchell’s first-half goal and added an insurance goal with 9:11 left as Bangor upended previously undefeated Presque Isle.
Bangor is now 6-1-1 while Presque Isle fell to 9-1.
Mitchell was sent in alone by Jeffrey and converted the breakaway midway through the first half.
Matt Larochelle made it 2-0 with 10:24 remaining as he turned on a loose ball and sailed a left-footed 16-yarder past Presque Isle goalie Ben Sirois.
Jeffrey found the top corner with a 22-yard direct kick 1:13 later.
Payson Nichols made seven saves on 10 shots while Sirois stopped 10 of 16 shots.
JV: Bangor 3-2
Houlton 1, Hermon 0
At Hermon, Ryan Brewer’s goal off a Keton Strong pass 10:25 into the game held up as Houlton notched its first win of the season. Eric O’Connell made 10 saves for the 1-4-5 Shires.
Phil Cayford made three saves for 2-5-2 Hermon, which was unable to convert a penalty kick and also hit the crossbar.
Old Town 3, Fort Kent 1
At Fort Kent, John Garrity scored two goals, one on an assist from Matt Petrie and the other from Tyson O’Keefe, to lift Old Town to the victory.
Kevin Emerson added a goal and an assist for the 6-3 winners and Tyler Tracewski made 14 saves on 18 shots.
Jared McBreairty scored on an assist from Shawn Levesque for 4-5-1 Fort Kent and Dustin Nadeau made 16 saves on 28 shots.

MDI 7, Caribou 0
At Mount Desert, Kyle Jones racked up three goals and Richard Hilliard added two goals plus an assist as the Trojans rolled.
Mike Bucklin and Bill Crawford tallied a goal each for 5-3-1 Mount Desert Island. Alex Galo dished out two assists and Cody Stratton one. Adam Thruston made seven saves on 10 shots to earn the shutout.
Miach Maurio stopped nine out of 20 shots for the 3-5-1 Vikings.
Shead 2, East Grand 1
At Eastport, Ben Maloney and Jason Bones scored unassisted goals in the first half and Darrin Constant made three saves on five shots as Shead won its seventh game against one loss.
James Crone scored for 4-6 East Grand of Danforth off a Darius Parker pass and Chris Irish and Seth Preston combined for seven saves on 14 shots.
Penquis 3, Dexter 1
At Dexter, Justin Allen scored all three goals and Kevin Nason made 10 saves on 13 shots as Penquis of Milo upped its record to 7-1-1.
Jordan Allen and Steven Kissell had assists for the Patriots.
Ben Lemieux scored from the penalty spot for 2-5-2 Dexter and Brian Hersey made 11 saves on 24 shots.
Central 1, DI-Stonington 0
At Corinth, Adam Allen weaved his way past a couple of defenders and tucked a 6-yard shot under goalie Chris Gray with 4:16 remaining to give Central its fifth win against two losses and a tie. Deer Isle-Stonington is 2-4-1.
Scott Chambers made 10 saves for Deer Isle-Stonington.
Penobscot Valley 3, GSA 1
At Howland, goals by Brody Artes, Kyle DeWitt, and Joey Cyr propelled the Howlers past the Eagles of Blue Hill.
Nick Ware and Jared Michaud dished out an assist each for the 6-2-1 winners. Garrett Lavertu made eight saves on nine shots.
Blake Wessel tallied an unassisted goal for 7-2 George Stevens. James Friend stopped 14 out of 17 shots.
Field Hockey
Dexter 6, Hampden 1
At Dexter, Nikki Champman and Courtney McCormick tallied two goals each as Dexter upped its record to 7-0.
Megan Fogarty and Keriann Patterson notched a goal each for the Tigers. Cindy Koscielny needed to make only two saves on just four shots.
Emma Banks knocked in a goal for the 4-4 Broncos. Hannah Theime stopped eight of 15 shots.
