Freese’s Assisted Living Center seeks pool table

Just before I left on vacation, Earl Leveille called to tell me of a need at his residence, the Freese’s Assisted Living Center in Bangor.

I suggested he call me upon my return, which he did, because the phone was ringing just as I sat down at my desk Monday morning.

Leveille and other residents of Freese’s Assisted Living, which is located in the former department store on Main Street in Bangor, would like to have a pool table.

He and fellow residents have been looking for one, he explained, “and if anybody could donate it, that would be great.”

A pool table would be a nice addition to the facility, and pool would be an activity many residents would enjoy.

Although he had a stroke which somewhat limited his movements, Leveille played pool a “good many years” ago, he said, and he “would try awfully hard” to regain those skills once a pool table is in place.

So, if you’re wondering what to do with the pool table that has been sitting, neglected, in your basement (and you can figure out how to get it out of there) you may have just found it a new and welcoming home.

If you are interested in discussing the prospect of donating a pool table to Freese’s Assisted Living Center, call its Eastern Agency on Aging representative, Julia Friend, at 942-2426, to work out the details.

The residents will be most grateful for your very generous donation!
