HOWLAND – Amber Leathers scored with 2:22 left in overtime to lift the Bangor Christian Patriots to a 2-1 schoolgirl soccer victory over the Penobscot Valley Howlers Monday.
Kelly Miller assisted on the winning goal.
Becky Fortier scored BC’s first goal with 22.4 seconds left in the second half to force the game into overtime. Pam Reitsma made 12 saves on 20 shots.
Ashley Dawson scored the game’s first goal, with an assist from Alana Porter, with 22:07 left in the first half. Jen Plourde stopped 12 of 19 shots for 1-6-1 Penobscot Valley.
Central 1, Foxcroft 0
At Corinth, Nicole Daniel stopped 10 of 12 shots, including a point-blank shot with 30 seconds left in the game, to earn the shutout for the Red Devils.
Sadie Chretien netted the game-winner with 7:20 remaining in the first half. Nicole Logue assisted on the goal for 3-4-2 Central.
Ashley Marden made 11 saves on 13 shots for the 0-7-1 Ponies.
Penquis 1, John Bapst 0
At Bangor, Erin Beasley scored the game-winning goal for 8-1-1 Penquis with 35 minutes left in the first half. Amanda Martin stopped 19 of 28 shots.
Rebecca Stevens blocked six of eight shots in the first half for 2-6 John Bapst and Ashley Cluff stopped all seven shots she faced in the second half.
Lee 9, Southern Aroostook 0
At Dyer Brook, Shelby Pickering scored four goals and assisted on two to help the Pandas improve to 9-0.
Marci Moors added two goals and an assist for the Pandas and Jenny Stevens notched a goal and an assist. Ashlee Gifford and Jessie Kuester each added a goal and Gifford and Ashley Jandreau combined for two saves on two shots.
For 3-6 SAHS, Crystal Cameron made nine saves on 22 shots.
Dexter 5, Deer Isle-Stonington 0
At Dexter, Lindsay Turner scored two goals and assisted on one to carry the Tigers to victory.
Sarah Turner, Lindsay’s twin sister, chipped in with a goal and an assist and Sabrina Cote added a goal with three assists for the 8-1 Tigers. Emily Whalen also scored a goal and Daphne Robichaud made eight saves on 10 shots.
Christina Fifield made 18 saves on 23 shots for 0-7-1 DI-S.
George Stevens 2, MDI 0
At Mount Desert, Brandi Winters scored the game’s first goal at 31:27 to go in the first half with an assist from Anastasia Osage and Bethany Roberts scored the second goal with 28:31 left in the first.
Liz Tyler stopped all 11 shots she saw for 3-4 George Stevens Academy of Blue Hill.
Trina Smith blocked four of six shots for 0-7 Mount Desert Island.
Buckfield 1, Greenville 1
At Greenville, Candace Allen scored the game-tying goal with 8:01 left in the second half for 3-1-2 Buckfield and the score stood up through two overtimes.
Coleen Violette blocked 15 of 16 shots for Buckfield.
Diane Aucoin scored 3-3-1 Greenville’s goal with 27:08 to go in the first half and Bethaney Bartley finished with 14 saves on 15 shots.
Valley 6, Averill 1
At Bingham, Kristen Baker scored two goals to lead Valley, now 3-6.
Melanie Vicneire scored a goal and made two assists for the winners. Emma McAllister, Margo Molley, and Jesse Fitzmaurice each added a goal and Crystal Rollins and Jillian Plourde each had an assist. Loretta Fitzmaurice made 10 saves on 11 shots.
Jessica Norris scored for 0-5 Averill of Hinckley with an assist from Lisa Seavey. Angela Alley made 25 saves on 31 shots.
Boys soccer
John Bapst 2, Foxcroft 1
At Dover-Foxcroft, Josh Jamison scored twice, including an unassisted goal with two minutes left in overtime, to lift the Crusaders of Bangor to victory.
Jamison scored a second-half goal off a Colby Theriault pass to tie it at 1-1. Rick Hathaway finished with 18 saves on 23 shots for the 4-4-1 Crusaders.
Manuel Blanc scored a first-half goal off a Ryan Edgerly assist for 2-6 Foxcroft and Dan Lubas finished with 21 saves on 25 shots.
Field hockey
Dexter 3, Orono 0
At Dexter, Courtney McCormick and Meagan Fogarty each collected a goal and an assist as Dexter extended its unbeaten streak to 44 games (43-0-1).
McCormick scored what proved to be the game-winner in the first half off a Fogarty pass. McCormick set up Sarah Wyman’s goal in the second half and Fogarty capped the scoring off assists from Brittany Veazie and Keriann Patterson.
Cindy Koscielny made two saves on four shots for 8-0 Dexter while Ana Blagojevic and Jessie Newcomb combined for 20 saves on 26 shots for 0-7 Orono.
Stearns 3, Bangor 0
At the Bangor High field, Jess Osborne scored a goal and assisted on another to carry the Minutemen by the Rams.
Sarah Connolly and Sarah Saucier each added a goal for the 4-3 winners of Millinocket. Kristin Bradbury and Julie Emery combined for 13 saves on 22 shots.
For 2-6 Bangor, Bonnie Case made 21 saves on 27 shots.
Foxcroft 2, Piscataquis 1
At Dover-Foxcroft, Amanda MacPheters’ goal off a Jess Burgoyne pass with five minutes left in the first half helped give the Foxcroft Academy Ponies a 2-1 field hockey victory over the Piscataquis Community Pirates Monday.
Emily Austin scored the first goal for the 9-0 Ponies and Megan Rider stopped three of five shots.
Kristi Levesque scored 3-5 Piscataquis’ goal with two minutes left in the first half on an assist from Tedianne Galuski. Amy Knowlton made 17 saves on 22 shots.
