DYER BROOK – Zac Austin’s goal with 5:21 to play in regulation lifted the Southern Aroostook boys soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Ashland Wednesday in high school action.

Corey Edkins assisted on the goal for the 9-2-2 Warriors, firing a cross from the left wing, which Austin one-timed into the net. Jeff Boutilier was credited with the shutout, stopping 16 out of 24 shots.

Buck Pineau made 28 saves on 40 shots for the 5-5-1 Hornets.

Woodland 3, Narraguagus 1

At Woodland, Jeremy Gillespie tallied a goal plus an assist as the Dragons downed Narraguagus.

Ben Leighton and Justin McCoubrey notched a goal each for 5-6 Woodland and Chad Pike and Mike Tupper each dished out an assist. Aaron Moody made 10 saves on 11 shots.

Eric Peltier scored off a pass from Lester Burgess for the 2-6-1 Knights of Harrington. Jamie Bailey stopped 21 out of 24 shots.

Washington Acad. 3, Calais 0

At East Machias, Andy Walther knocked in two goals and Whitney Stevens handed out two assists to spark the Raiders.

Jared Gray added a goal for the 7-1 winners and Nenad Micic an assist. Jason LaBonte only faced two shots, and saved one of them.

Chris Woodside turned back 16 out of 25 shots for the 1-7-1 Blue Devils.

Machias 4, Jonesport-Beals 0

At Machias, Brian Frutchey, Austin Roberts and Joe Richards scored first-half goals as Machias improved to 8-0-1.

Ed St. Pierre added a second-half goal and Todd Stevens had an assist on Roberts’ goal. Marcus Frutchey made one save.

Ross Griffin and Abraham Beal combined for 19 saves for 2-5-2 Jonesport-Beals.

Ellsworth 5, Sumner 1

At East Sullivan, Noah Jordan notched two goals to as the Eagles improved to 4-3-1.

Seth Mayo tallied a goal plus an assist for Ellsworth. Jenson Rich and Andy Barry added a goal each, and Matt Wood an assist. Noah Brown made eight saves on 11 shots.

Rick Haynes scored the 3-6-1 Tigers’ only goal. Carlos Velencia and Cody Hammond combined to stop 16 out of 24 shots.

Girls soccer

Ashland 7, Southern Aroostook 0

At Dyer Brook, Jessica Jacques scored three goals and assisted on another as the Hornets rolled past the Warriors.

Caitlin Sherman had two goals and an assist while Beth Chaamerlin scored a goal and picked up an assist and Serena Collins had a goal for 4-7 Ashland. Ashley Nemer made 16 saves on 30 shots.

Crystal Cameron turned away 16 of 24 shots for 3-10 Southern Aroostook.

Searsport 3, Dexter 2 (2OT)

At Dexter, Jessica Plourde scored on a breakaway with 3:38 remaining in the second overtime as the Vikings edged the Tigers.

Plourde’s goal was the culmination of a Searsport comeback in which they trailed 2-0 at the half.

Nicole Shute’s goal with 19:38 left in the match off a Jessica Wilson assist tied the match after Wilson had scored on a Shute assist to get 7-1-1 Searsport on the board. Mo Hall made six saves on 18 shots.

Sabrina Cote and Renee Young scored for 8-2 Dexter. Julie Lockhart and Lindsay Turner had assists and Daphne Robichaud made 10 saves on 20 shots.
