Plourde goal gets Vikes past Tigers

DEXTER – Jessica Plourde scored on a breakaway with 3:38 remaining in the second overtime as the Searsport Vikings edged Dexter 3-2 in girls soccer action Wednesday.

Plourde’s goal was the culmination of a Searsport comeback in which they trailed 2-0 at the half.

Nicole Shute’s goal with 19:38 left in the match off a Jessica Wilson assist tied the match after Wilson had scored on a Shute assist to get 7-1-1 Searsport on the board. Mo Hall made six saves on 18 shots.

Sabrina Cote and Renee Young scored for the 8-2 Dexter Tigers. Julie Lockhart and Lindsay Turner had assists and Daphne Robichaud made 10 saves on 20 shots.

Penquis 1, Central 0

At Corinth, Erin Beasley scored on a penalty kick with 11:42 left in the game to lift the Patriots of Milo.

Beasley was awarded the PK after a push in the penalty area. Amanda Martin made five saves on 16 shots for 5-5 Penquis.

Nicole Daniel stopped 20 of 24 shots for the 3-5-2 Red Devils.

Ellsworth 3, Orono 1

At Ellsworth, Ashley Oleson tallied a goal and an assist as the Eagles downed the Red Riots.

Mallorie Jones and Cherry Gammelin provided a goal each for 3-5 Ellsworth and Sarah Briggs added an assist. Victoria Jones made four saves on six shots.

Michaelee Westhoven scored an unassisted goal for 3-5-1 Orono. Marie Lint and Joelle Clingerman combined to stop five out of 10 shots.

Hermon 1, MDI 0

At Mount Desert, Gillian Miller scored off a pass from Alisa Petrello about halfway through the first half for the victorious Hawks.

Shannon Dobbins stopped all 13 shots she faced to earn the shutout for Hermon. Trinia Smith and Katie Massicotte combined to make 16 saves against 17 shots.

Boys soccer

Ellsworth 5, Sumner 1

At East Sullivan, Noah Jordan notched two goals to as the Eagles improved to 4-3-1.

Seth Mayo tallied a goal plus an assist for Ellsworth. Jenson Rich and Andy Barry added a goal each, and Matt Wood an assist. Noah Brown made eight saves on 11 shots.

Rick Haynes scored the 3-6-1 Tigers’ only goal. Carlos Velencia and Cody Hammond combined to stop 16 out of 24 shots.

Field hockey

Foxcroft 4, Hermon 0

At Hermon, Harita Reddy tallied two goals and Amanda Howard racked up three assists as the Ponies won their 10th straight (10-0).

Jess Burgoyne and Rollinda Mitchell notched a goal each for the winners. Megan Ryder stopped all six shots she faced.

Meagan McCready rejected five out of nine shots for the 0-9 Hawks.

JV: 1-1

Dexter 2, Mattanawcook 0

At Lincoln, Amanda Pullen and Sarah Wyman scored goals as the Tigers ran their record to 9-0 with a win over the Lynx.

Cindy Koscielny saved one of three shots for Dexter.

Colleen Cloran and Ashley Emery combined to make 15 saves on 19 shots for 4-5 Mattanawcook Academy.

JV: 0-0

Piscataquis 2, Nokomis 0

At Newport, Amy Knowlton stopped all 11 shots she faced to earn the shutout for Piscataquis of Guilford.

Sharon Ortiz and Carol-Ann Emery tallied a goal each for the 4-5 Pirates.

Brandi Davis stopped three out of five shots for the 4-4-1 Warriors.
