BANGOR – Petty Officer 2nd Class Aaron Fowler, a full-time staff member of Naval Reserve Center Bangor, is also Rampage Professional Wrestling personality Brother Bubba Franklin. Another persona he takes on is Shipwreck.
Fowler has coordinated a benefit professional wrestling show in Washburn at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at Washburn High School.
Events on the card are:
. Heavyweight title match, Sonny Soprano vs. Mourning Star.
. Cruiserweight, Cash Money Cameron Matthews vs. Legion Cage.
. TV title, T-Bone Jones vs. Michael Monroe.
. RPW Invitational Tournament, first round, Hardware vs. Sugar Daddy Scott Logan; second round, Matt Lindsay vs. Gabriel, The Dark Angel; third round, Davis Station vs. Rain.
. Brother Vic vs. Mervin Greenwald.
. Brother Bubba vs. Psycho Mike.
Fowler, 24, said that wrestling “has pretty much been my dream since I was 6 years old.”
Originally from Washington State, he is on active duty in administration to reserv-ists at the Naval Reserve Center in Bangor.
His fellow reservists have been very supportive of the fund-raising project, he said.
No, they don’t razz him about being involved in wrestling.
“I’m bigger than most of them,” Fowler said with a chuckle.
The benefit show will help offset medical bills for the family of Naval Reservist Petty Officer 3rd Class Wayne Ranger, Fowler explained.
Ranger has recently returned from mobilization. While on duty in support of Operation Noble Eagle, his daughter was diagnosed with hepatitis C. She is currently unable to go to school, but is taking medication to fight the disease.
All proceeds from the wrestling show, excluding the 5 percent Maine State Athletic Commission charge, will go to the Ranger family.
Tickets for the event are available at the door. Those interested in making a donation to the Ranger family should call Aaron Fowler at 942-4388.
