Forrest sparks Broncos Belfast, Bangor notch victories

HAMPDEN – Alyssa Forrest netted the eventual game-winning goal with 14:01 left in the game as the undefeated Hampden girls soccer team held off Brewer 2-1 Thursday in high school action.

Kim Stephenson assisted on the winner for the 10-0 Broncos. Erin Campbell also recorded a second-half goal and Gabby Schrage made six saves on seven shots.

Stacie Bean scored for the 2-7 Witches with four minutes left in the game. Katie Harris stopped 10 of 18 shots.

JV: Hampden 3-0

Searsport 3, DI-Stonington 0

At Deer Isle, Mo Hall had a perfect game in net, saving all nine shots she faced to earn the shutout for the Vikings.

Nicole Shute and Theresa Cameron provided a goal each for 7-1-1 Searsport, while Jessica Plourde and Amy Neilson notched assists.

Christina Fifield notched 15 saves off 18 shots for the 1-8 Mariners.

Belfast 5, Lincoln Acad. 0

At Belfast, Emily Biscone and Sam Ellis tallied two goals apiece as the Lions roared past the Eagles of Newcastle.

Katie Nickerson registered a goal plus two assists for 8-1 Belfast. Emily Worth and Bryna Harrington stopped both shots they faced.

Justine Flagg rejected five out of 10 shots for 3-7 Lincoln Academy.

Bangor 1, John Bapst 0

At Bangor, Megan McCrum’s goal 29:51 into the second half helped the Rams squeak past in-town rival John Bapst.

Ilyse Angst collected 14 saves off 26 shots for Bangor. Ashley Cluff countered with 14 saves on 22 shots for the Crusaders.

JV: Bangor 3-1

Narraguagus 4, Shead 1

At Eastport, Missy Barbee racked up four goals as the Knights of Harrington improved to 9-1.

Haley Torrey and Jen Strout had an assist each for the winners. Alicia Tenney made 14 saves on 18 shots.

Samantha Davis scored off a pass from Skylar Richardson for the 5-3-1 Tigerettes. Roliza DeWitt rejected 11 out of 20 shots.

Field Hockey

Nokomis 2, Bangor 0

At Bangor, Gill Snow and Jenny Hawkes each had an unassisted goal to spark Nokomis of Newport.

Dana Gardner got the shutout, making 12 saves on 19 shots for the 4-4-1 Warriors.

Bonnie Case rejected 17 out of 22 shots for the 2-8 Rams.

Leavitt 4, Camden Hills 0

At Rockport, Amy Myrand knocked in two goals as the Hornets shut down the Windjammers.

Megan Dumais and Kristen Healy each chipped in with a goal for 10-1 Leavitt of Turner. Amanda Hill made one save on one shot.

Abby Spooner made 13 saves on 17 shots for 1-8 Camden Hills.

Belfast 5, Lincoln Acad. 2

At Belfast, Ashley Bryant collected two goals plus an assist as the Lions notched their seventh win.

Morgan Crandall tallied a goal plus two assists for 7-3-1 Belfast. Jen Jackson and Celia Grotz added a goal each, and Sarah Skinner an assist. Amanda Littlefield and Tash Scott combined to make three saves on five shots.

Emily May and Niki Poland registered an unassisted goal each for the 1-9 Eagles of Newcastle. Nicole Russell racked up nine saves against 14 shots.

Hampden 3, John Bapst 1

At Hampden, Amy Ryder knocked in two goals as the Broncos prevailed.

Sarah Peters provided a goal for 5-4 Hampden, and Aarika Duplisse handed out an assist. Carolyn Samp made 20 saves on 27 shots.

Ashley Freeman scored off a pass from Chelsea Atkinson for the 4-5 Crusaders of Bangor. Julia Sleeper notched 18 saves on 22 shots.

JV: Hampden 2-0

Stearns 2, Orono 1

At Millinocket, Sarah Connolly knocked in the game-winning goal with 13:51 left in the second half as the Minutemen edged the Red Riots.

Jessica Osborne added a goal on a penalty corner for 5-3 Stearns. Julie Emery and Kristen Bradbury combined for two saves on three shots.

Kristina Whibey scored on a penalty corner for 1-7 Orono. Jessie Newcomb and Ana Blagojevic combined for 10 saves on 12 shots.

JV: Stearns 4-0

Central 5, Brewer 0

At Doyle Field in Brewer, Casey Davis tallied two goals and an assist as the Red Devils blanked the Witches.

Jody Harvey also scored two goals for 7-1 Central of Corinth. Heather Lyford put in a goal and Katie Ahearn had two assists. Lisa Brown and Jenny Rollins added an assist apiece and Jenna Dauphinee made one save on one shot.

Sarah England stopped 10 of 19 shots for 2-7 Brewer.

Boys soccer

Lee 2, Katahdin 1 (OT)

At Lee, Andrew Stevens scored two goals, including the game-winner with 3:17 left in the first overtime, to propel the Pandas.

Stevens’ first goal came with 10:52 left in regulation and sent the game to overtime. Kris King stopped 10 of 15 shots for 2-7-1 Lee.

Thomas Rodgerson netted a second-half goal off an assist from Travis Robinson. Cameron Cunningham made 13 saves on 17 shots for the 1-10-1 Cougars of Sherman Station.

Averill 4, Highview Christian3

At Charleston, David Arnold and Christian Gregor registered two goals each as the Beavers nipped the Knights.

Arnold also had an assist for 4-3 Averill of Hinckley. Mike Lasler stopped 23 out of 34 shots.

Nike Waite, Andrew Richard and Nate Richard provided a goal each for 1-8-1 Highview Christian Academy. Aaron Waite notched eight saves against 13 shots.

Penquis 0, Schenck 0 (2OT)

At East Millinocket, the Patriots of Milo and Wolverines struggled to a deadlock.

Mike Rossignol made 16 saves on 18 shots for Schenck, while Kevin Nason went 16-for-25 for Penquis.

Piscataquis 2, Central 1

At Guilford, unassisted goals by John Garrett-Young and Harper Hoffman helped the Pirates down the Red Devils.

Josh Luellen stopped 12 out of 17 shots for 5-0-5 Piscataquis.

Joe Allen notched a goal for 6-3-1 Central of East Corinth. Scott Chambers made 18 saves against 25 shots.

JV: Piscataquis 5-1

Penobscot Valley 1, Dexter 0

At Howland, Nick Ware blasted home a penalty kick with 1:50 to play in the first half and the Howlers won a defensive struggle.

Penobscot Valley was awarded the PK after a Dexter handball in the penalty area. Garrett Lavertu stopped all eight shots he faced in net for 8-2-1 Penobscot Valley.

Brian Hersey was just as solid for the 3-6-1 Tigers, making 20 saves on 21 shots.

Maranacook 4, Camden Hills 2

At Rockport, Rob Cloutier notched two goals as the Black Bears of Readfield prevailed.

Charlie Calligan and Mike Buckley registered a goal each for 8-1-1 Maranacook. Pirer Marlouchik tallied seven saves on 10 shots.

Adam Stearns and Jason Laurita knocked in a goal each for the 5-4 Windjammers. Morgan Kerr stopped 11 of 16 shots.

MCI 3, Rockland 0

At Pittsfield, freshman Mark Trombley tallied two goals to power the Huskies to the win.

Brandon Ring added a goal for 4-5-1 Maine Central Institute and David Chale had an assist. Shawn Basford made three saves on six shots.

Ryan Dow stopped 13 of 20 shots for the 0-10 Tigers.

JV: MCI 3-2

Sumner 2, DI-Stonington 1 (OT)

At East Sullivan, Will Seyffer’s goal with 1:08 to play in overtime off a cross from Jake Vivviros gave the 4-6-1 Tigers the win.

Seyffer also scored in the first half for Sumner, who launched a 43-shot attack. Chris Cowperthwaite assisted on Seyffer’s first goal. Carlos Velercia made seven saves on 10 shots.

Nick Ciomei provided the 3-6-1 Mariners’ lone goal. Chris Gray stopped 28 out of 43 shots.

Ellsworth 3, Orono 1

At Ellsworth, Jensen Rich tallied two goals and Alex McMillan handed out two assists for the victorious Eagles.

Tristan Werner notched a goal and Matt Wood an assist for 5-3-1 Ellsworth. Noah Brown made three saves on five shots.

Simo Bilyk registered a goal for the 2-6-2 Red Riots and Sam Kelley had the assist. Evan James rejected 11 out of 24 shots.

JV: Ellsworth 6-1

Bangor 1, John Bapst 0

At Bangor, Mike Larochelle’s goal with 24 minutes remaining in the match gave the Rams the win over the Crusaders.

Ryan Jeffrey’s corner kick found Larochelle at the far post who headed the ball into the open net. Payson Nichols made four saves on 11 shots as Bangor improved to 8-1-1.

Rick Hathaway stopped 14 of 24 shots for 4-5-1 John Bapst of Bangor.

JV: Bangor 8-0

Foxcroft 5, Nokomis 3

At Dover-Foxcroft, Manuel Blanc racked up three goals as the Ponies rolled over the Warriors.

Mitch Sawyer and Ryan Edgerly each contributed a goal and an assist. Jason Weymouth added an assist and Kevin Brown made 14 saves on 17 shots for 3-7 Foxcroft.

Mike Conrad had a goal and an assist for 4-5-1 Nokomis of Newport. Matt Frasier and Rocky Leavitt each added a goal and David Buzanoski had an assist. Mike Jacques and Eric Gardner combined for 13 saves on 19 shots.
