PCHS blanks Lakers Prescott, Hoffman score goals for Pirates

GUILFORD – Jon Prescott and Harper Hoffman each scored a goal to lift the Piscataquis Community Pirates to a 2-0 schoolboy soccer victory over the Greenville Lakers Saturday.

Prescott converted a penalty kick and Hoffman tallied an unassisted goal for the 6-0-5 winners. Josh Luellen made 11 saves on 12 shots.

Greg Aucoin registered 18 saves against 24 shots for 7-3 Greenville.

Nokomis 2, Presque Isle 1

At Presque Isle, Matt Fraser scored the game-winning goal for 5-5-1 Nokomis on a penalty kick with 24 minutes remaining in the game.

David Sacks scored the Warriors’ first goal unassisted while Erik Gardiner stopped 10 of 15 shots.

Ben Deschene scored with an assist from Luke Blackstone for 10-2 Preque Isle. Ben Sirois and Brad Baker combined to made 10 saves on 12 shots.

Ellsworth 3, Caribou 2 (2OT)

At Caribou, Jensen Rich scored in the second overtime to lead 6-3-1 Ellsworth to victory.

Rich added an assist on a goal by Noah Jordan while Andy Berry also scored a goal. Noah Brown made two saves on seven shots.

Ben Wakana had a goal and an assist for 4-5-1 Caribou while Dave Levasseur and Eamonn Harrigan contributed with a goal apiece. Michael Maurio faced 14 shots in net and stopped nine.

JV: Ellsworth 1-0

DI-Stonington 4, Dexter 0

At Deer Isle, Evan Haskell’s three second-half goals lifted the Mariners past the Tigers.

Mike Douglass added a goal while Nick Ciomei, John Klemenz and Brian Billings picked up assists and Chris Gray saved seven of seven shots for 4-7-1 Deer Isle-Stonington.

Brian Hersey turned away eight of 12 shots for 2-8-2 Dexter.

Penquis 4, Central 2

At Milo, Dustin Perkins’ two second-half goals were the difference in the Patriots’ win over the Red Devils.

Steve Kissell and Justin Allen scored goals and Jordan Allen and Nick Maioriello picked up assists. Kevin Nason stopped 12 of 16 shots for 6-4-2 Penquis.

Joe Allen scored two goals and Scott Chambers made 19 saves on 24 shots for 6-4-1 Central of Corinth.

Girls soccer

Fort Kent 1, John Bapst 0

At Fort Kent, Meaghan Minzy scored the game-winning goal for the 5-5-1 Warriors with 17:21 remaining in the game.

Gabielle Cyr had the assist on the game-winner while Mindy Morneault made eight saves on 12 shots.

Ashley Cluff faced 18 shots and stopped 11 for 2-8 John Bapst.

JV: John Bapst 2-0

Caribou 3, Ellsworth 1

At Caribou, three players had goals for the Vikings as they improved to 10-1.

Lindsay Burlock scored on a penalty kick and Marilee Waugh and Jenna Vincent added goals for Caribou while Michelle Ouellette had an assist. Leah Drew turned away six of seven shots.

Farran Davis scored a goal and Victoria Jones made six saves on 25 shots for 3-6 Ellsworth.

JV: Caribou 5-0

Presque Isle 3, Nokomis 2 (2OT)

At Presque Isle, Stephanie Holton notched the game-winner off a pass from Marigan Bishop, who had two assists, 2:05 into the second overtime as the Wildcats improved to 9-4.

Katie Delong tallied a goal for the winners, and Nicole James scored off a direct kick. Jessica Price and Melissa DeMerchant combined to make 10 saves on 14 shots.

Kristina Gonzalez collected a goal plus an assist for the 4-4-1 Warriors of Newport. Aimee Paradis added a goal and Amy Preble an assist. Tia Beauregard made 13 saves on 20 shots.

JV: Presque Isle 4-1

Penquis 4, Central 1

At Milo, Erin Beasley scored a pair of goals as the Patriots downed the Red Devils.

Kate Hamlin had a goal and an assist while Christina Gerrish scored a goal and Samantha Ellis and Stephanie Johnston assisted on goals for 6-5 Penquis. Amanda Martin made three saves on five shots.

Tanya Crosby scored a goal assisted by Nicole Labbe and Nicole Daniel stopped 12 of 18 shots for 3-6-2 Central of Corinth.

Hermon 1, Brewer 0

At Hermon, Jessie Wiggin scored the game’s only goal off a pass from Gillian Miller with 6:24 remaining in the first half as the Hawks topped the Witches.

Shannon Wiggin stopped all five shots she faced for 6-3-1 Hermon.

Katie Harris collected 15 saves against 16 shots for 2-8 Brewer.

JV: Brewer 3-1

Mount View 2, Belfast 0

At Thorndike, Megan Reymeyer notched 10 saves off 12 Belfast shots to earn the shutout for the Mustangs.

Molly Hauser and Violette Siosson recorded a goal each for 4-7 Mount View.

Bryna Harrington and Emily Worth combined to make 10 saves against 13 shots for the 9-2 Lions.

JV: Belfast 2-1

Greenville 2, Shead 0

At Greenville, Jillian Bouley scored with an assist from Diane Aucoin to secure the lead and the win for the Lakers.

Kahla Lander added a goal for 6-3-1 Greenville while Beth Bartley stopped 12 of 12 shots.

Roliza Dewitt made 10 saves on 12 shots for 5-5-1 Shead.

Field hockey

Belfast 2, Camden Hills 0

At Camden, Jen Jackson and Moragan Crandall each scored goals to lift 8-3-1 Belfast past Camden Hills.

Sarah Skinner and Erin Brown each recorded assists while Tash Scott stopped four of four shots.

Abby Spooner faced 10 shots and stopped eight for 1-9 Camden Hills.

Piscataquis 2, Central 1 (OT)

At Guilford, Tedianne Galuski knocked in the game-winner at 7:22 of the first overtime, as the Pirates knocked off Central.

Karole-Anne Emery tallied a goal for 5-5 Piscataquis, and Galuski assisted on it. Amy Knowlton made seven saves on eight shots.

Katie Ahearn scored the 7-2 Red Devils of East Corinth’s lone goal, and Jenny Rollins had the assist. Jenna Dauphinee stopped seven out of nine shots.

JV: Piscataquis 3-1

Stearns 2, John Bapst 1

At Bangor, Jessica Osborne’s penalty-stroke goal with no time on the clock in the first half proved to be the difference in the Minutemen’s win over the Crusaders.

Holly Franck also scored on a penalty stroke for 6-3 Stearns of Millinocket and Kristen Bradbury made 14 saves on 22 shots.

Diana Bush scored off a Megan Gekler assist for 4-6 John Bapst while Julian Sleeper turned away 16 of 26 shots.
