FARMINGTON – David Sithole and Brian Mawhinney scored two goals each as the University of Maine-Farmington Beavers beat the Castleton State Spartans 7-0 in men’s soccer action Tuesday.
Justin Genschei and Shuji Fukami had a goal and an assist apiece and Pat Dugas added a goal while Todd Chamberlain picked up a pair of assists for 5-3 UM-Farmington. Matt Allen and Adam Zukowski also assisted on goals and Ryan Hersey saved the only shot he faced for the Beavers.
Jason Apruzzese and Eric DeNicola combined to make seven saves on 30 shots for 6-7-2 Castleton (Vt.) State.

Southern Maine 2, Bowdoin 1
At Gorham, Sara Dolley provided the Huskies with what proved to be the game-winning goal midway through the second half.
Sarah Metivier of Old Town opened the scoring for 8-4 Southern Maine in the opening minutes of the second half off an assist from Darci Holland. Dolley, of Oakland, also picked up an assist and Jessie Superchi made 12 saves on 18 shots for the Huskies.
Leah McClure scored for 7-2 Bowdoin while Amanda Burrage picked up an assist and Gillen McDonald stopped three of five shots.
Merrimack 4, St. Joseph’s 1
At Standish, Colleen Keeley racked up two goals plus an assist as the Warriors of Andover, Mass. cruised.
Allison Crawford and Amy Gadwah notched a goal each for Merrimack, and Colleen Miller had an assist. Kaitlin McCone made five saves.
Davan Clawson picked up an unassisted goal for the Monks. Mary Tibbetts had 11 saves.
