Long John 150 to run at Unity Sunday

The auto racing season is winding down but there will be two intriguing races this weekend.

Pro stock drivers will try to add some bulk to their wallets at Unity Raceway on Sunday when the Long John 150 highlights a full card of racing.

The racing starts at 1 p.m. with the winner taking home $3,500. Second place is worth $2,000 and the third-place finisher will earn $1,500. It will also be the final event in the three-race Triple Crown series and the driver who finishes with the most points in the three races will pocket $2,000. Second place is worth $1,000 and third-place money is $500.

Meanwhile, at Lime Rock Park (Conn.) on Saturday, Cherryfield’s Andy Santerre, Matt Kobyluck of Oakdale, Conn., and Brad Leighton of Center Harbor, N.H., will settle the points championship in the Burnham Boilers 200.

Rain postponed Friday’s qualifying so they will try again Saturday morning before the 2:15 p.m. green flag.

Santerre has a 38-point lead over Kobyluck and an 80-point advantage over Leighton.

Santerre needs to finish at least seventh if Kobyluck wins to claim the title or within eight spots of the Connecticut driver if Kobyluck finishes second or below.
