For the past seven years, interested sportsmen have spent a few valuable hours talking about issues of outdoors interest with some of the state’s outdoor leaders.

That time is approaching again, as the eighth annual Sportsman’s Alliance of Maine Sportsman’s Congress is scheduled for Dec. 6.

The event will be held at the Augusta Elks Lodge from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m., and the public is welcome.

Outdoor leaders from across the state will preview and discuss key issues for the coming year.

The event is always popular, and people are encouraged to reserve a seat in advance. They can do that by calling 622-5503 or sending an e-mail message to members@samcef.org.

Pushaw turkey shoot scheduled

Hunters and recreational shooters alike may want to head to Hudson on Oct. 20 to try their hand at a turkey shoot.

The event will be held at the Pushaw Lake Snowmobile Club on Whitmore Landing Road, and will run from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

The price is $1 per shot, and prizes will be awarded for all sizes of shotguns. All age groups are welcome.

Bucksport forum on tap

A quick reminder for Penobscot and Hancock county area sports: You’ll get your chance to bend the ear of the state’s decision-makers on Wednesday during a Sportsman’s Forum.

The event will be held at the Bucks Mills Rod & Gun Club in Bucksport. A spaghetti supper is scheduled for 6 p.m. and the meeting will begin at 7.
