A Bangor man was charged with theft after he allegedly ran out of the Union Street Shop ‘n Save with meat valued at $275.60 hidden under his jacket.

Bangor police Officer Paul Colley said he arrested Donald Wade, 32, after Wade had jumped into the back seat of a gray Oldsmobile parked in the Airport Mall lot on the Griffin Road. Colley said he followed the vehicle down Griffin Road as Wade watched the police car through the Oldsmobile’s rear window.

Colley pulled the car over and told Wade to put his hands on the seat. When Wade instead reached beneath the seat, Colley pulled him out of the car. In the back seat were another adult and a child – as well as some meat. The others in the car were not charged.

A manager at the store told police he saw the man later identified as Wade put the meat into a red basket, then hide the meat beneath his jacket before running out the door, Colley said.

A car belonging to a Bangor woman was stolen Friday night or Saturday morning as she visited an area bar.

The woman had parked her silver 1998 Ford Taurus on the Bangor waterfront with the keys inside, Bangor police Officer Shawn Green said. She had parked the car at 9:25 p.m. Friday and returned at 1:20 a.m. Saturday to find the car was missing.

An Old Town woman faces charges of operating a vehicle while under the influence of intoxicants after she was pulled over by Bangor police just after 1 a.m. Saturday.

Kristan Kennedy, 22, failed to stop for a stoplight and took a wide turn onto Main Street from Water Street on Saturday morning, Bangor police Officer James Hassard said. After pulling her vehicle over, police said she had trouble standing during field sobriety tests.

She was taken to Penobscot County Jail, where she was found to have a 0.19 percent blood-alcohol level, more than twice the legal limit. She was released on personal recognizance bail and will appear in District Court in Bangor Nov. 18.

Bangor police charged three people Sunday in the middle of Odlin Road with violations ranging from criminal mischief to refusing to submit to arrest.

Officers Ed Mercier and Erik Tall had just broken up a fight involving people inside Barnaby’s at the Ramada Inn and were escorting males outside when an employee at the bar told police that he had just seen two men break the front plate glass door to the bar, Mercier said.

Police immediately shouted at two men, followed by a woman, who were crossing Odlin Road.

But the group ignored the orders, Mercier said. The officer grabbed one man, later identified as Phillip Allard, 25, of Bucksport, and Tall grabbed Allard’s other arm when he began pulling away.

The second man, later identified as Eric Lawrence, 21, of Levant, then began pushing his way between Tall and Allard, Mercier said. Mercier let go of Allard to grab Lawrence when Lawrence began resisting the officer and the officer forced him to the ground.

Meanwhile, a woman, later identified as Nicole Downing, 26, of Bucksport, began slapping Tall’s back and trying to push him off Allard.

Downing was charged with disorderly conduct, assault and obstructing government administration. Allard was charged with criminal mischief and refusing to submit to arrest. Lawrence was summoned for obstructing government administration and criminal mischief. They will each appear in District Court in Bangor on Nov. 18.
