Brown lifts John Bapst past Old Town girls 1-0

BANGOR – Meaghan Brown slotted home a six-yard shot during a goalmouth scramble with 22:03 remaining to give the John Bapst Crusaders a 1-0 schoolgirl soccer victory over the Old Town Indians Monday.

The Crusaders avenged a 3-0 loss suffered on Sept. 12.

Rebecca Stevens made 17 saves on 19 shots for 4-9 John Bapst.

Whitney Carey stopped 12 of 14 shots for 5-6-1 Old Town.

JV: John Bapst 2-1

Greenville 2, East Grand 1

At Bangor, Crystal Ferris put in the game-winning goal 25:01 into the first half as the Greenville girls soccer team held off East Grand 2-1 Monday in high school action.

Martha Richardson scored the Lakers’ first goal with an assist from Kahla Lander 2:35 into the game. Beth Bartley made five saves on six shots for 8-4-1 Greenville.

Amanda Godley tied it up 15:20 into the first half. Paula Oshoe made 18 saves on 20 shots for the 4-4-1 Vikings of Danforth.

Wisdom 4, Limestone 3 (OT)

At St. Agatha Saturday, Kristen Marquis netted the game-winner 3:53 into overtime to lift the Pioneers past the Eagles.

Justine Tardif, Michelle Bourgoin and Cindy Chamberlain added one goal apiece for 9-3 Wisdom. Shannon Berube stopped 14 of 23 shots.

Emily Williams scored for 6-5-1 Limestone with 6:33 left to send the game to overtime. Pearl Ryder scored a goal and assisted on an Ashley Brooker goal. Nikki Michaud made 10 saves on 20 shots.

Lee 5, Penquis 2

At Lee, Shelby Pickering provided all the offense the undefeated Pandas would need, racking up five goals.

Brittany Mallett made on assist. Ashley Gifford stopped six of eight shots for 13-0 Lee.

Shannon Gerrish and Erin Beasley each scored a goal for the 6-7 Patriots of Milo. Amanda Smith and Kate Hamlin each had an assist. Amanda Martin stopped 21 of 27 shots.

Bucksport 1, George Stevens 0

At Blue Hill, Elissa Gordon’s unassisted goal with 8:06 left in the first half proved to be the eventual winner for the Golden Bucks.

Brittany Damon blocked seven of nine shots for 11-0-2 Bucksport.

Liz Tyler made 10 saves on 16 shots for the 5-6-1 Eagles.

Hampden 3, Orono 0

At Orono, Annaliese Lafayette scored two goals to lift the undefeated Broncos.

Emmy Russell added a goal for 13-0 Hampden. Tyne Franchi had two assists and Emily O’Connell contributed one assist. Gabby Schrage made 10 saves on 16 shots.

Marie Lint and Joelle Clingerman combined to stop 13 of 29 shots for the 4-7-1 Red Riots.

Boys soccer

Bangor Christian 3, Greenville 1

At Bangor, Ben Sobey scored a goal and added an assist to power the Patriots past the Lakers.

Anthony Cole and Ignacio Bustos each scored a goal. Aaron Wilson made two saves on eight shots for 6-3-3 Bangor Christian.

Jonah Lizotte scored the Lakers’ goal on a penalty kick with 3:35 left in the first half. Greg Aucoin stopped seven of 14 shots for 10-4 Greenville.

Field hockey

Piscataquis 2, Mattanawcook 1

At Lincoln, Karole-Anne Emery scored two goals, including the game-winner with 3:57 left in regulation, as the Pirates topped the Lynx.

Amy Knowlton made five saves on 12 shots for 8-5 Piscataquis of Guilford.

Jaide Littlefield’s goal tied the game. Courtney Gulesian had an assist. Ashley Emery blocked eight of 14 shots for 4-9-1 Mattanawcook.

JV: 1-1

Foxcroft 1, Nokomis 0

At Newport, Jess Burgoyne knocked in the eventual game-winner with eight minutes left in the first half to lead the Ponies to a 14-0 mark.

Megan Rider stopped all four shots that she faced for 14-0 Foxcroft.

Brandi Davis made 13 saves on 15 shots for the 7-6-1 Warriors.

JV: Nokomis 2-0

Bangor 1, Hermon 0

At Hermon, Monica Willey scored unassisted with about three minutes left in overtime to give the Rams the victory.

Bonnie Case made 10 saves on 10 shots for 3-10 Bangor.

For 0-13 Hermon, Meagan McCready made eight saves on nine shots.

JV: Bangor 2-1
