FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Rachel Hilgar’s unassisted first-half goal proved to be all the Maine Black Bears needed in their 2-0 field hockey victory over Sacred Heart Tuesday.
Hilgar scored at 30:35 into the first half.
Karyn Magno scored an unassisted goal at 14:42 into the second half for the 11-2 Black Bears. Jaye Lance and Colbey Smith combined for six saves on six shots.
Robyn Breer stopped 12 of 17 shots for Sacred Heart.

Bowdoin 2, Southern Maine 0
At Gorham, Chris Fuller scored the game’s first goal off of a Bobby Desilets assist 11:15 into the game and Andrew Russo extended the lead at 14:54 in the first, also from a Desilets assist.
Travis Derr and Tom Davis combined for three saves for 8-2 Bowdoin.
Chris Willard and Dan Hills combined to make 14 saves on 27 shots for 3-7-2 Southern Maine.
Women’s soccer
Husson 4, Thomas 0
At Bangor, Beatriz DeYcaza had her second four-goal game of the season to lead 6-7 Husson to the win.
Melissa Achorn, Kristin Pelletier and Deidra Ham each tallied an assist while Meg Taylor and Ashley Roberts combined to make five saves on eight Thomas shots for the Braves.
Jessia Craft faced 31 shots for 3-7-1 Thomas of Waterville and made 13 saves.
