Two teen girls face charges of shoplifting at Marden’s

BREWER – The mother of one of two Bangor teen girls accused of stealing five pairs of shoes and a duffel bag from Marden’s on Wilson Street in Brewer on Monday turned the two girls over to police Tuesday.

Marden’s loss prevention personnel watched as two teenage girls loaded a duffel bag with five pairs of shoes and then left the store without paying just after 4 p.m. Monday, Brewer police Sgt. Chris Martin said. The store personnel wrote down the license plate number of a passenger van the two girls got into. Police spoke to the owner of the van, who happened to be a parent of one of the girls.

The mother brought the girls to the Brewer police station along with the stolen items that were valued at about $130, Martin said. Both will appear in 3rd District Court in Bangor to face one count of theft each Nov. 26.
