Comeau leads Braves past Monks

BANGOR – Jen Comeau notched a goal plus two assists as the Husson College Braves knocked off rival St. Joseph’s of Standish 4-2 in women’s field hockey action Wednesday.

Kim Miller tallied a goal plus an assist for 6-4 Husson, while Nicole Palmer and Sara McIntire had a goal each. Becka Fisher made two saves on four shots.

Amanda Thompson and Katie Scott collected a goal each for the 5-4 Monks, while Davan Clawson and Lisa Ham each dished out an assist. Mary Tibbetts stopped 10 out of 19 shots.

Thomas 0, UM-Farmington 0

At Waterville, the University of Maine-Farmington Beavers outshot Thomas College 9-3, but neither team could put one in the net.

The Terriers’ Jen Lane saved all nine shots she faced, while UMF goalie Fawn Albert saved all three of UMF shots.

Men’s Soccer

St. Joseph’s 3, Thomas 1

At Standish, Joe Valente had a goal plus an assist for the victorious Monks.

Chris Hughes and Michael Erickson had a goal each for 6-7-1 St. Joseph’s, and Pete Bettinger and Chris Willer each had an assist. Jeff Yaeger made three saves on five shots.

Rick Kelley scored off a pass from Ben Wheeler for the Terriers of Waterville. Ryan Conely stopped seven out of 13 shots.
