Hamlin, Gerrish lead Patriots by Searsport girls

MILO – Kate Hamlin scored off a Shannon Gerrish pass with 10 seconds left in the second overtime to give the Penquis Patriots a 2-1 schoolgirl soccer victory over the Searsport Vikings Wednesday.

Gerrish had dribbled past several defenders to the corner where she crossed the ball to Hamlin, who booted it in from about six yards out.

Gerrish scored her team’s first goal off a Hamlin pass. Amanda Martin finished with four saves on six shots for the 7-7 Patriots.

Jessica Plourde scored off an assist from Sheila Wilbur for 10-2-1 Searsport and Mo Hall made seven saves on 13 shots.

Bucksport 3, Orono 0

At Bucksport, Jessie Taylor racked up a goal plus two assists to pace undefeated Bucksport.

Alice Andrews and Elissa Gordon had a goal each for the 12-0-2 Golden Bucks. Brittany Damon recorded three saves against five shots.

Marie Lint stopped eight out of 20 shots for the 5-7-1 Red Riots.

John Bapst 7, Foxcroft 0

At Bangor, Rebecca Stevens and Nicole LeBlanc tallied two goals each as the Crusaders galloped past the Ponies.

Katie Rice, Meaghan Brown and Lindsay Miller notched a goal each for 5-9 John Bapst. Stevens and Hayley Cutri combined for two saves.

Kate Walsh made 21 saves against 28 shots for 0-13-1 Foxcroft.

JV: John Bapst 1-0

Limestone 4, Fort Fairfield 0

At Limestone, Ashley Brooker and Jacinda St. Pierre notched two goals each for the Eagles in the win.

Brooker dished out an assist, as did Pearl Ryder and Lindsey Beaulieau for 8-5-1 Limestone. Nikki Michaud stopped all five shots she faced.

Danielle Searles blocked 14 out of 22 shots for the 3-9-2 Tigers.

Field hockey

Stearns 2, Piscataquis 1

At Millinocket, Jessica Osborne scored off a corner from Sarah Connolly with 3:18 left in overtime to give the Minutemen the victory.

Casey Popp scored a first-half goal for Stearns off a Katie Jones assist but the Pirates of Guilford tied it when Karole-Anne Emery scored an unassisted goal with 17:35 left in the game.

Kristin Bradbury made eight saves on 13 shots for 7-7 Stearns and Amy Knowlton made seven saves on 17 shots for 7-7 PCHS.

Boys soccer

Fort Fairfield 5, Limestone 4

At Fort Fairfield, Mickey Browning scored two goals, one on a penalty kick, to lead the Fort Fairfield Tigers to a win in their regular-season finale.

Josh Turner’s unassisted goal with 14:45 left was the difference as the Tigers finish 13-1. Aaron Kenneson and Eric Tornquist each scored a goal. Tyler Bernaiche stopped nine of 18 shots.

For 7-6-1 Limestone/Maine School of Science and Math, Dale Swanton had three goals and an assist. Brad Lettenberger scored the other goal. Jake Manner made 12 saves on 21 shots.

Fort Kent 2, Caribou 0

At Fort Kent, Mike Theriault and Steve Rossignol each had an unassisted goal to lift the Warriors to the win.

Dustin Nadeau got the shutout for 5-7-1 Fort Kent, making four saves on five shots.

Mike Roy stopped five out of 15 shots for the 4-7-1 Vikings.

JV: Caribou 2-1
