BANGOR – In conjunction with White Cane Awareness Month, the seventh annual White Cane Awareness Walkathon will be held today.
Registration starts at 10:30 a.m. at Bangor City Hall on Harlow Street, and the walk begins at 11 a.m. A brief ceremony will feature 0Mayor Michael Crowley and state Sen. Tom Sawyer reading proclamations.
The walk, designed to enhance public awareness of Maine’s White Cane Law, also will raise money for the Iris Network and its Maine AIRS – Audio Information and Reading Service – program.
