ORONO – Senior Clayton Brown scored 15 points to lead the University of Maine men’s Blue team to a 55-42 win over the White squad in the annual intrasquad game Sunday afternoon at Alfond Arena.
The game was split into four quarters with the Blue team winning the first and fourth, the White winning the third, and the second being a tie.
The Blue jumped out to an 11-0 lead in the game and extended the lead to 16-4.
The Black Bears will next play a home exhibition game against G.T. Express on Monday, Nov. 11, at 7:30 p.m.
In the women’s Blue-White game, junior swing player Julie Veilleux of Augusta connected for 15 points to highlight the contest played in front of some 500 fans.
Veilleux was 6-for-10 from the field and grabbed four rebounds in the game, which had no winner as coach Sharon Versyp switched some personnel between the two squads in each of the four, 10-minute quarters.
Sophomore guard Missy Traversi netted 11 points and senior guard Ellen Geraghty scored nine. Junior forward Heather Ernest of Temple registered six points, a game-high 11 rebounds, two assists, two steals and a blocked shot.
Among the newcomers, center Abby Schrader finished with six points and eight rebounds, while guard Katherine Quackenbush posted four points, four assists, two rebounds and a steal.
UMaine opens its exhibition season Wednesday, Nov. 6, at Orono against the Basketball Travelers at 7:30 p.m.

Maine Maritime 2, Becker 0
At Castine, Derek Wilding scored two goals, one on a penalty kick and one off a pass from Anthony Blair to lead the Mariners to the win.
Dan Loebel made seven saves on nine shots for 2-11 Maine Maritime.
Adam Boucher stopped seven out of 30 shots for the 1-14 Hawks.
UM-Farmington 2, UMPI 0
At Farmington Saturday, Shuki Fukami and Adam Zukowski registered a goal each for the Beavers in the win.
Brian Mawhinney and Miles Leavy each dished out an assist for 8-4 UM-Farmington. Ryan Hersey made two saves against five shots.
Tim Dolley stopped six out of 24 shots for the 3-11 Owls.
UM-Fort Kent 2, Thomas 0
At Waterville Saturday, Juan Murphy knocked in a direct kick just before the half for the victorious Bengals.
Evan Watson tallied an unassisted goal for 13-1 UMaine-Fort Kent. Chad Bouchard stopped both shots he faced.
Ryan Conley racked up 12 saves against 17 shots for the 4-8-1 Terriers.
Stony Brook 2, Maine 0
At Stony Brook, N.Y., Saturday, Payton Webb scored at the 28:34 mark with an assist from Mike Salvador and Josh Allen scored at 49:11 for the Seawolves.
Dan Ferrin stopped all five shots the saw for 2-11-1 Stony Brook.
Chad Mongeon and Josh Sjostrom combined to save two of four shots for 1-10-2 University of Maine.
Connecticut College 3, Colby 1
At Waterville Saturday, Erich Archer scored the game-winning goal wit 5:30 left in the game.
Chris French scored with an assist from Brian Kelly with 24 minutes remaining in the game and Andrew Danzinge and Brian Davidson combined to make three saves on 11 shots for 5-6 Colby.
UM-Presque Isle 3, Thomas 2
At Waterville, Brad Holabird’s second-half goal off a Jay Johnson assist gave the Owls the winning edge.
Johnson also scored for the Owls off of a Mike Lane assist in the first half and UMPI’s second goal deflected in off a Thomas defender. Tim Dolley made 11 saves on 18 shots for 4-11 UMPI.
Eric Reddy scored in the 57th minute off of a Jeremy Gaudet assist for 4-9-1 Thomas. Jason Laing scored three minutes later with an assist from Jeremy Stanfor and Ryan Conley stopped six of 11 shots.
UM-Fort Kent 0, UMF 0 (2OT)
At Farmington Sunday, the Bengals and Beavers battled to a double-overtime deadlock.
Ryan Hersey made two saves on seven shots for 8-4-1 UMaine-Farmington, while Chad Bouchard countered with nine saves against 25 shots for 13-1-1 UMaine-Fort Kent.
Braves drop two
At Bangor, the Husson College men’s soccer team dropped a pair of decisions over the weekend, 2-1 to in-state rival St. Joseph’s of Standish on Saturday, and a 1-0 shutout at the hands of Lyndon State (Vt.) on Sunday.
In Saturday’s Game, Joe Scanlon and Jesse Fowler each had an unassisted goal for the 4-7 Monks. Brian Fisher made 16 saves on 21 shots.
Mike McCarron scored off a pass from Lee Barnett for the 4-7 Braves. Cliff Urquhart and Justin Whittaker combined to stop eight out of 10 shots.
In Sunday’s game, Seneca Woods’ unassisted goal propelled Lyndon State to their first win.
Whittaker countered with three saves on five shots for 4-8 Husson.
Volleyball
Huskies defeat Maine
At Orono Sunday, Northeastern University kept the University of Maine winless in conference play with a 3-0 victory in which the Huskies notched 14 service aces.
Northeastern improved to 11-13 overall and 3-1 in America East with a 30-18, 30-19, 30-28 victory.
For the 6-7 Black Bears, Leah Guidinger had 12 kills and nine digs while Carmen Gabriel added eight kills, 18 digs, and 17 set assists.
Field hockey
Becker 4, Husson 1
At Leicester, Mass., Sunday, Jennifer Dodge had two goals to lead Becker past Husson.
Amanda Brown scored off a pass from a Nicole Corson for the 7-5 Braves of Bangor. Jamie Giles and Becca Fisher combined to make 11 saves on 24 shots.
Husson 3, Elms 2
At Chicopee, Mass., Saturday, the Braves scored three unanswered goals after Emily Page got the Blazers on the board first.
Sara McIntire, Kim Knower and Yoko Egami had a goal each for 7-4 Husson of Bangor, all unassisted. Jamie Giles made five saves on nine shots.
UM-Farmington 2, St. Joseph’s 0
At Standish, Dorcie Reitchel scored two goals to spark UMaine-Farmington Sunday.
Reitchel scored off of a Mary Sinclair assist with 16:20 left in the first half and scored again with 20:30 left in the game with an assist from Mary Berry and Kelly LeClerc. Fawn Albert made seven saves for 9-4 UMF.
Mary Tibbetts stopped nine shots for 3-9 St. Joe’s.
Women’s soccer
Becker 1, MMA 0 (2OT)
At Castine, Kim DiLeo scored the game-winner on a breakaway early in the second overtime to give Becker the win.
Rachel Barry had four saves against 10 shots for the winners while Meghan Marshall countered with eight saves on 19 shots for the Mariners.
Husson wins, ties
At Vermont, the Husson College women knocked off College of St. Joseph 7-1 Saturday in Lyndonville, but then battled to a 1-1 double-overtime tie with Lyndon State College on Sunday in Rutland.
On Sunday, the 7-7-1 Husson Braves got a goal from Melissa Achorn and Meg Taylor made seven saves on eight shots.
Jen Kirchoff scored the tying goal for Lyndon State. Maggie Scott had 10 saves on 11 shots.
On Saturday, Kristin Pelletier scored three goals and had three assists to lead the Braves. Beatriz Deycaza scored twice, while Melissa Achorn and Deidra Ham each had a goal and an assist. Meg Taylor and Ashley Robar combined to make three saves on five shots.
Marissa Domanico scored 1-9 St. Joseph’s only goal. Jayde DuFresne made 20 saves on 37 shots.
UM-Fort Kent 2, Thomas 1
At Waterville Saturday, Kristen Cyr scored with 1:25 remaining in the second half to give the Bengals the victory.
Jess Gagnon tallied an unassisted goal in the first half for 4-8 UMaine-Fort Kent. Jamie Pelletier had 10 saves on 21 shots.
Mary Pratt scored for the 3-8-1 Terriers and Jessie Craft had seven saves on 13 shots.
UMF 2, UM-Presque Isle 2 (OT)
At Farmington, Erin Findlan scored off of a Richelle Dube assist at 39:18 to bring the Beavers within one on Saturday. Dube tied the game at the end of the first half unassisted.
Alyson Pontbraind made four saves on six shots for 10-1-1 University of Maine Farmington.
Anne Marcino scored an unassisted goal at the 21-minute mark for the Owls. At 27:07, Sara Gibb put them up by two. Noreen Marcino stopped 18 of 31 shots for 6-3-3 University of Maine Presque Isle.
Maine 3, Vermont 1
At Northport Sunday, junior midfielder Katie Hodge scored two goals to lead the Maine Black Bears to their first conference victory.
Freshman Heather Hathorn scored the other goal, Annie Hamel had two assists, and Hodge added one assist for the 3-11 Black Bears. Naomi Welsh saved four of four shots.
Unity splits to be runner-up
At Concord, N.H., the Unity College Rams knocked off Hesser 5-1 Saturday to advance to the Yankee Small College Conference Tournament championship, but then lost to New Hampshire Technical College 1-0 in overtime Sunday.
On Saturday, Joclynne Omerod scored three goals to lead the 5-8-1 Rams. Cara Butterly and Kyla LaPlante each had a goal and an assist while Christine Blakesly made five saves on seven shots.
Jenn Martell scored unassisted for 4-5 Hesser. Tara Hancock saved 17 of 25 shots.
On Sunday, Stacey Delvea’s unassisted goal from a deflection off the post early in overtime gave 8-3 New Hampshire Tech the win. Tabitha Paradise saved 10 of 13 shots.
For the Rams, Blakesly saved 11 of 14 shots.
