THORNDIKE – Heather Carter’s unassisted goal with 3:30 left in overtime lifted the Mount View Mustangs to a 2-1 high school field hockey victory over the Rockland Tigers in an Eastern Maine Class B quarterfinal Thursday.

Carter received a pass from about 25 yards from the goal and maneuvered past several defenders before launching a point-blank shot for the goal.

Fourth-seeded Mount View is now 9-5-1 and will host Erskine Academy of South China in a Saturday semifinal at 1 p.m. Fifth-ranked Rockland finished at 9-5-1.

Jenny Stevens scored Mount View’s first goal off a Lindsey Hunter pass with 10 minutes left in the first half. Caitlin Grant came back to tie it for Rockland seven minutes later when she scored unassisted.

Mount View outshot Rockland 16-14.
