BREWER – Police are investigating the theft of two spotlights used to illuminate the statue of Joshua L. Chamberlain located in the Brewer Freedom Park. The theft occurred sometime last week. The wires were cut and the spotlights, which were buried in the ground, were dug up and removed.

Brian Higgins, president of the Brewer Historical Society, which oversees the park, is asking that the lights be returned. The lights were purchased by the historical society and there are no funds to replace them. He can be reached at 478-5021. Anyone with information about the theft can call Brewer police at 989-7001.
