History will be made when they try for the third time to conclude the Busch North Series season at Lime Rock Park, Conn., today. The Burnham Boilers 200 has been postponed by rain the last two weekends and the race, originally scheduled for noon, may start earlier or later depending upon the weather.
Cherryfield’s Andy Santerre will try to sew up the points title. He leads Matt Kobyluck of Oakdale, Conn., by 38 points and Brad Leighton of Center Harbor, N.H., by 80 points. If Kobyluck wins the race, Santerre needs to finish seventh or better to claim the points crown. If Kobyluck doesn’t win, Santerre needs to finish within eight spots of him.
Meanwhile, for the first time in the Busch North series, two women will run in a race. Second-year regular Carey Heath of Eliot will be joined by Thompson International Speedway (Conn.) regular Liane Lombardi. Heath will start 17th and Lombardi will go off 26th.
