UMaine seniors named to All-Star squad

ORONO – University of Maine seniors forward Tara Bedard and back Kim Leo, both from Skowhegan, were named to the 2002 National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I North/South Senior All-Star squad Friday.

They will participate in the 2002 NFHCA Senior All-Star game to be held at 7:30 p.m., Nov. 23, in Louisville, Ky.

Bedard has not missed a game this season and leads the team in scoring with 10 goals and 10 assists for 30 points. She is second in the conference in individual scoring, and ranks fourth in goals scored, leads the league in assists, and was named America East Player of the Week after scoring the game-winning overtime goal against then-No. 8 Northeastern.

Leo has also played in all 15 games and has six assists and one goal. She has seen action in 70 career games and serves as the team’s co-captain. She leads a defense which has allowed 14 goals in 15 games. The 13-2 Black Bears have shut out their opponents seven times this season.
