The Bates College Bobcats upended rival Colby 19-14 in the 105th meeting between the schools in football action Saturday, while Wesleyan beat Bowdoin 17-3 and Worcester State kept Maine Maritime winless 27-19.

In Lewiston, Bates’ Sean Atkins ran for 99 yards and a touchdown as Bates College took its first win of the season.

The Bobcats (1-5, 1-5 New England Small College Athletic Conference) scored the winning touchdown on a Kane Jankoski 1-yard run with 6:54 left in the game.

Aaron Stepka led Colby (2-4, 2-4) with 230 yards rushing and two touchdowns in helping it to a 14-7 halftime lead. The team was hurt by 108 yards in penalties.

Colby holds a 50-47-8 lead in the rivalry.

In Middletown, Conn., Wesleyan junior running back Young Douglas rushed 19 times for 169 yards, providing the home team with enough offense to beat Bowdoin.

Wesleyan (5-1) held Bowdoin to 165 total yards while collecting 355 of its own, 278 of that on the ground.

Bowdoin (1-5) got its only points of the game on a 27-yard field goal by Jon Rock after Bowdoin held Wesleyan inside its own 5-yard line and forced a punt.

Bowdoin was held to 58 yards rushing on 38 attempts.

Host Worcester State scored two second-half touchdowns and then stopped Maine Maritime at the 1-yard line in the last minute of play to hang on for the win.

Maine Maritime (0-8) took a 19-13 lead late in the third quarter on Evan Gauvin’s 2-yard run, but Worcester State (7-1) responded with Greg Wood’s 84-yard kickoff return for a 20-19 lead.

Pat Bard scored twice for Maine Maritime, which was led by Justin Cummings with 128 yards rushing.
