BLUE HILL – Mike Astbury scored off a cross from Ryan Lawson 20 minutes into the game to lift the George Stevens Academy Eagles to a 1-0 schoolboy soccer win over the Schenck Wolverines in an Eastern Maine Class C semifinal Tuesday.

James Friend made six saves on 10 shots for third-seeded George Stevens Academy, 11-3-2.

Mike Rossignol made seven saves on 15 shots for No. 7 Schenck of East Millinocket, which closed out its season at 9-5-2.

GSA will host No. 5 Penquis of Milo Saturday for the EM Class C title. Penquis upset Piscataquis of Guilford 1-0.

Class B

Winslow 2, John Bapst 1

At Winslow, Joe Corey scored off an Andy Reynolds assist with 3:43 remaining, giving the top-seeded Black Raiders the margin of victory.

Reynolds had given 13-3 Winslow a 1-0 lead early in the second half, scoring off an Oren Smith assist. Evan Walters made five saves on nine shots.

Sean Snyder converted a Colby Theriault pass to score for No. 4 John Bapst of Bangor (9-6-1). Rick Hathaway made nine saves on 25 shots.

Class D

Van Buren 1, Fort Fairfield 0

At Fort Fairfield, Fabian Deuchler’s unassisted goal 17:05 into the first half lifted the No. 3 Crusaders past the No. 2 Tigers and into the Eastern Maine final.

Deuchler gained control of the ball and booted it into the left corner of the goal after a scramble in front of the goal following a corner kick.

The win was Van Buren’s first against the Tigers this season as Fort Fairfield beat the Crusaders twice, both by 1-0 scores.

Sean Violette finished with seven saves on nine shots for the 13-3-1 winners and Tyler Bernaiche made five saves on seven shots for 15-2 Fort Fairfield.

Shead 2, Washburn 1

At Washburn, Ben Maloney scored the game-winning goal unassisted with 12:28 left in the first half to give the eighth-seeded Tigers the win over No. 4 Washburn.

Ricky Kroll scored Shead of Eastport’s first goal off of a Maloney assist with 18:49 left in the first half. Darrin Constant made nine saves on 13 shots for 14-3 Shead.

Jason Thompson scored off a Dan Harris assist with 20:23 left in the first half. Zach Bird made six saves on 12 shots for 11-3-3 Washburn.

Valley 3, Islesboro 2

At Northport, Mark Gaudet scored two goals and made one assist as the No. 8 Cavaliers of Bingham advanced to the Western Maine final.

Tony Hibbard scored off a Gaudet assist to put Valley ahead 3-0. Lucas Melcher added one assist. Eric Hatfield made 16 saves on 18 shots for 8-7 Valley.

Jonathon Bolduc scored both goals for the fourth-seeded Eagles, both off Gavin Harkins assists. Rory Diffin stopped 15 of 18 shots for 11-2 Islesboro.
