The public will have a chance to meet the University of Maine women’s basketball team and coaching staff Saturday during “Great Skates with the Black Bears” at Great Skates in Bangor.

The event, sponsored by Friends of Maine Women’s Basketball, will run from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. The $5 fee includes the use of skates or blades. Door prizes will include tickets to future UMaine games.

Coach Sharon Versyp’s Bears open their exhibition season Nov. 6 at 7:30 p.m. against Istrobanka, Slovakia, at Alfond Arena.
