CORINNA – Two Dexter men suffered minor injuries Sunday after one of them lost control of a car on a sharp corner of Fisher Road.

Deputy Josh Tibbetts of the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Department said the accident occurred Sunday evening near the intersection with Sunken Bridge Road.

Driver Wayne Weeks, 24, and passengers Jeffery Downing, 24, and Matthew Downing, 23, all of Dexter, were headed toward Dexter in a 1993 Geo Storm when the car went off the left side of the road. After striking a metal pole, the car ran into a ditch along the driver’s side and struck a large rock.

Weeks told police he heard a rattling noise in the back just before the wreck.

Weeks and Jeffery Downing were taken to Sebasticook Valley Hospital in Pittsfield by Corinna Ambulance and Sebasticook Valley Hospital Ambulance crews for treatment for minor injuries, police said. Matthew Downing was not injured.

Weeks was charged with operating a motor vehicle after the suspension of his license, Tibbetts said. The car, which Week had bought just three days earlier, was a total loss.

It was not known whether the three were wearing seat belts.
