OTIS – A spokeswoman from the State Medical Examiner’s Office said Thursday that officials there were still working to determine what caused the death of a Hampden woman whose body was found Wednesday.
Officials are not releasing the identity of the woman, who was reported missing to the Hampden Police Department on Nov. 1. Sources close to the probe indicated it appears to be a suicide.
The discovery of her car parked on a dirt road prompted a search Wednesday that resulted in the recovery of her body.
The woman’s blue Honda Accord was found a half-mile down a dirt road off the Scotts Neck Road near Green Lake at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Wardens, warden canine units and members of the volunteer organization Maine Search and Rescue Dogs searched the area until 2 p.m., when the woman was found in woods several hundred yards from her vehicle.
