ORONO – Carmen Gabriel registered a triple-double with 59 assists, 12 digs and 10 assists Friday night to lead the University of Maine to a five-game America East volleyball victory over Hartford at Memorial Gym.

The Black Bears improved to 9-17 overall, 3-6 in conference play, with a 26-30, 30-22, 28-30, 30-23, 15-8 victory.

UMaine’s Claire Poliquin registered a team-high 20 kills with only one error for a .559 hitting percentage. The Bears had one of their best hitting efforts of the season at .319.

Leah Guidinger posted 19 kills and 14 digs while Kaili Jordan had 18 digs and 13 kills for the winners.

Stephanie Volckers paced Hartford (13-14, 3-7) with 28 kills and 22 digs. Danielle Scoggin racked up 55 assists.

UMaine plays its final home match of the season Sunday at 12:30 p.m. against Stony Brook.
