BANGOR – A Guilford man convicted of robbing a Dover-Foxcroft variety store at gunpoint will serve six years in prison.

Richard Ridley, 24, was sentenced Friday to 12 years in prison with all but six years suspended by Justice Joseph Jabar in Penobscot County Superior Court. Ridley also received six years of probation, which includes the conditions that he possess no weapons, receive a psychiatric evaluation, counseling, and make himself available for random searches and drug tests.

Dressed in dark clothing, a ski mask, and latex gloves, Ridley robbed the Foxbrook Variety store on Nov. 8, 2001, using a 20-gauge shotgun.

Ridley escaped with $633 but was arrested almost immediately because the store clerk was able to give police four numbers from the robber’s license plate. The getaway vehicle was a Ford Ranger.
