Police on Monday were investigating a weekend burglary at the Veazie wastewater treatment plant on Hobson Avenue and began processing physical evidence found at the scene.

At least one burglar was able to unlock a window to the facility from the outside and to steal a secretary’s computer and two portable radios, Veazie police Detective Andrew Whitehouse said.

Total value of the items stolen was more than $1,500.

The burglary was discovered at 8 a.m. Monday and took place sometime after Friday afternoon.

Police are not sure whether more than one person was involved and are withholding details of the burglary and evidence found pending further investigation.

A man wanted on warrants for operating a motor vehicle after the revocation of his license and failure to appear in court for the same charge was arrested Sunday after giving police a false name and then fleeing from authorities when they asked him for his true identity.

Bangor police Officers Brad Hanson and Chris Morley were handling a traffic stop on Market Street when Hanson noticed a passenger throw a cigarette out of the vehicle’s rear passenger window, Hanson said. When police asked the man for his identification, he said he didn’t have any, but reportedly claimed his name was Robert B. Wiseman, 21.

A check with dispatch found that while Wiseman had no criminal history or active warrants, there was a Jon Atwood, 21, of Winterport who used the alias of Robert B. Wiseman and was wanted on two warrants, Hanson said. Police asked the man believed to be Atwood to get out of the car and to give his correct name, but after leaving the vehicle he began to run along Market Street.

Police caught the man after he fell to the ground twice on Curve Street, Hanson said. Police summoned the man, confirmed to be Atwood, for possession of a usable amount of marijuana after they found a small amount of the drug in one of his coat pockets.

Atwood remained in Penobscot County Jail in Bangor on Monday night, held on $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 surety for each warrant. He will appear today in 3rd District Court in Bangor.

Three Bangor teens face drug-related charges after the car they were in Sunday night was stopped for not having its headlights on while driving on South Main Street in Old Town.

Larry Dunn, 19, reportedly had been driving a green 1997 Dodge Stratus, with James Stanley, 18, and a 17-year-old male riding as passengers when Old Town police stopped the vehicle just after 10:30 p.m. near the intersection of South Main and Center streets, Old Town police Sgt. Travis Roy said.

Dunn told police that he had a marijuana pipe in his car’s console. A subsequent search of Dunn and his two passengers revealed the 17-year-old also was in possession of a pipe. Another marijuana pipe was found in Stanley’s shoe, which he allegedly had hidden there while the others were being searched.

All three will appear Dec. 16 in 3rd District Court in Bangor on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia.
