Community outreach events offered

“Beyond Tolerance: Steps to Acceptance, Compassion, Respect and Understanding” is a series of community outreach events held in conjunction with the Penobscot Theatre production of “The Diary of Anne Frank.” Kathleen Ellis, an English instructor at the University of Maine, will lead a discussion comparing Anne Frank’s 1947 diary with Wendy Kesselman’s 1997 stage adaptation, 7 p.m. Nov. 21 at the Bangor Public Library. Rabbi Barry Krieger of the University of Maine Hillel, will join a panel discussion after the 2 p.m. performance on Nov. 17 at the Bangor Opera House. “Soul Survivors: Legacy of the Holocaust,” a display of photos by Maine photographer Jack Montgomery will hang in the Opera House through Nov. 24. The collection contains black-and-white portraits of Holocaust survivors who live in Maine. For information, call 942-3333.
