Brewer Youth Theatre presents the musical comedy “Crazy for You” at 7 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, Nov. 21-23, at Brewer Middle School.
The play features the music of George and Ira Gershwin, performed by a cast of 50 Brewer High School and Middle School students. Tickets are available at the door for $5; $3 for students. For information, call 989-8640.
Orono High School
ORONO – One of the most popular Broadway musicals ever will be presented this weekend. The Orono High School production of “Cabaret” will be offered at 7 p.m. Nov. 14, 15 and 16 in the school auditorium.
Tickets are $5 and $3. Table seats, including food and beverage are $15 each. Reservations are required for table seats, with only 20 available per show. Call 866-4916.
Lewis S. Libby School
MILFORD – Rhonda Alley from the Maine Parent Federation will present “Creating Win-Win Interactions Between Parents and Children” 6-8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18, in the school cafeteria.
Discussion will center on the benefits of communication as well as the barriers. The workshop goal is to provide participants with positive communication techniques.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Jason Rauch is a peer academic adviser in the 2002-2003 Meikeljohn program at Brown University. The program aids first-year students in academic planning.
Rauch is the son of Steven Rauch of Bangor.
Eastern Maine Technical College
BANGOR – The Friends of the Eastern Maine Technical College Library are selling Jewel pins and Little People pins to support the library and early childhood education library resources.
The unique pins make wonderful holiday gifts and will be on sale in the Maine Hall lobby Nov. 19, and Dec. 3, 10 and 17.
The Friends also will have the 2003 Book Lover’s Calendar for sale – 365 days of good authors, good books and good reading.
Sales of the pins and calendars will benefit the EMTC library and early childhood education library resources. Designs by Lucinda, the cottage industry which makes the pins, donates part of its profits from the sales to nonprofit organizations throughout Maine, such as Literacy Volunteers.

Skidmore College
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Alexandra Chapman, a senior at Skidmore College, has been elected to Skidmore’s Periclean Honor Society.
Chapman is the daughter of Brenda Lawson of Winterport and John Chapman of Hampden.
The Periclean Honor Society was formed in 1956 to honor seniors with grade point averages of 3.4, and juniors whose average is 3.6. New members of the society were inducted in a ceremony held during Family Weekend, Oct. 11-13.
Teacher workshop
ORONO – The Jordan Planetarium, located on the University of Maine campus, will offer a free teacher workshop 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7. Teachers will learn how to help students explore the solar system and understand the position of the planets.
Activities and handouts that are relevant to the Maine Learning Results standards will be covered, and will include the most recent solar system discoveries. The planetarium sky will introduce real sky observing activities suitable for students, and the planets that will be viewable this school year. A basic introduction to constellations rounds out the evening of space exploration.
