AUBURN – Will Claxton’s 18-yard field goal in the second overtime gave fifth-seeded Edward Little a 16-13 win over archrival Lewiston in the Eastern Maine Class A football championship game before an estimated crowd of 5,000 Saturday.

The 7-4 Red Eddies will play 11-0 Portland for the state championship on Saturday at Fitzpatrick Stadium in Portland. Portland beat Biddeford 7-2 to win the Western Maine title.

Claxton’s field goal completed an Edward Little comeback. The sixth-seeded Blue Devils had jumped out to 13-0 lead on a 2-yard touchdown run by Jeremy Madore and a 16-yard touchdown reception by Kirk Bolduc from Brent Dube.

Edward Little began its comeback just before the end of the second quarter when B.J. Mooney scored on a 33-yard run. Matt Capone tied it when he returned an interception 29 yards for a score.

Madore led 7-4 Lewiston with 108 yards on 30 carries.
