LYNDONVILLE, Vt. – Alyson Pontbriand made 15 saves on 18 shots to help the University of Maine-Farmington women’s soccer team beat Holy Family 1-0 in double overtime in the NAIA Region X championship Saturday.
The game was decided on penalty kicks as Richelle Dube, Shannon Mailhot, and Jodi Dodge all scored on their penalty kicks for UMF.
Marie Kara scored Holy Family College’s only penalty kick. Melissa Murphy blocked nine of 15 shots for Holy Family College of Philadelphia.

UMM wins Tip-Off Tourney
At Fort Kent, Miranda Richardson and Angela Robb combined to score 37 points to lead University of Maine-Machias to a 67-51 victory over UM-Fort Kent in the Bengals Tip-Off Tournament championship game Saturday.
Rachel Larlee led the University of Maine-Presque Isle to give the Owls a 56-33 win over Atlantic Baptist in the consolation game.
In the championship game, Richardson scored 19 points for the Clippers and Robb netted 18 points, including four 3-pointers. Christina Rich made four steals for 2-0 UMM.
Heidi Fisher scored 17 points to pace UM-Fort Kent. Sara Quint scored 13 points and Whitney Zettergren 12 while Megan Dow made five steals for the 1-1 Bengals.
In the consolation game, Larlee scored 18 points, Sarah Nason 15, and Erica McGary 14 for the 1-1 UMPI Owls.
Tiffany Doucet and Candace Webster each scored nine points to lead the Crusaders. Doucet made four steals for 1-6 Atlantic Baptist.
Webster, Nason, Robb, Fisher, and Quint were all named as the All-Tournament Team. The Lowell Osgood MVP Award went to UMM’s Sara Ricker.

Bengal Tip-Off Tournament
At Fort Kent, Fisher College had five players score in double figures to down the University of Maine-Fort Kent 101-94 in the championship game of the Bengal Tip-Off Tournament.
Tony Jefferson topped the 2-0 Falcons with 29 points while Ife Anosike scored 20 points and pulled down 20 rebounds and Carmine Charles scored 20 points. Keseen Green tossed in 13 and James Rollins 10 had for Fisher College of Boston.
Jose Frais led the 1-1 Bengals with 26 points while Andrew Clavette had 20, Bartas Samaitis scored 14, and Mathew Alarcon chipped in with 10.
In the consolation game, Daniel Midgley tossed in 14 points while Chujor Chujor hit for 13 and Daniel Midgley and Joe Footer had 11 apiece for the 1-1 Clippers.
Ife Anosike of Fisher received the Lowell Osgood Most Valuable Player Award.

At Northford, Conn., Candace Boyles scored the first goal only 17 seconds into second period off assists from Kristen Alcorn and Debbie Deaudoin on Saturday. Gillian Gallagher scored Quinnipiac’s second goal at 18:46 into the third period. Mel Courtemanche stopped all 33 shots that she saw for 1-6 Quinnipiac.
Lara Smart made 35 saves on 37 shots for 3-5 University of Maine.
Field hockey
Mount Holyoke 2, So. Maine 1
At Gorham, Krista Lindquist scored off of a Lauren Weiner assist at 47:32 to give No. 3 Mount Holyoke the win in the ECAC Division III Championship semifinal on Saturday.
Weiner scored an unassisted goal 34:15 into the first half. Elizabeth Wishart made three saves on four shots for 18-4 Mount Holyoke, which advances to the final.
Jodie Eldridge tied the score in the second half off an Amy Ouellette assist at 44:26 for the No. 2 University of Southern Maine Huskies, which finished 15-8. Jessie Superchi stopped 11 of 14 shots.
Volleyball
New Hampshire 3, Maine 1
At Durham, N.H., Alyson Coler made 21 kills and nine digs to help lead New Hampshire to victory. Lauren Knight made 13 kills and seven digs. Anne Davis made 50 assists and 15 digs and Sasha Scott made 14 digs. New Hampshire (21-10) won the match 30-21, 30-22, 27-30, 30-29.
Carmen Gabriel had a triple-double with 30 assists, 12 kills, and 16 digs. Leah Guidinger made 10 kills, one assist, and 12 digs and Amber Sammons made two assists and 12 digs for the 9-21 Black Bears.
