A public hearing has been called for Dec. 2 to discuss a $250,000 Community Development Block Grant application that may be submitted by Washington County on behalf of the unorganized territory of Trescott and nearby towns.
The money would be used to build facilities for the Cobscook Community Learning Center, which would serve as a community resource center. The grant would be submitted to the state Department of Economic and Community Development through its public facility program.
The county would be the lead applicant for the money, with sponsorship also requested from Lubec, Whiting, Edmunds, Dennysville, Pembroke, Perry, Sipayik and Eastport.
Copies of the proposal are available at each participating community’s town office.
The hearing will be at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2, at the Whiting Town Hall.
Written comments may be sent to Cobscook Community Learning Center, P.O. Box 3640, Lubec 04652.
